why wont my photos load on my computer?

I have a digital camera. To load the photos from it onto my computer, i take out the SD card and put it in the slot on my CPU and then open the file in the 'computer' window.

On Tuesday i took my card to a camera shop and used their machines to order some prints. All worked fine.

Today, i trying to load the photos on my computer and everytime i click to open the file, the computer is freezing up.

What on earth could be causing that?

You can see the files, but you can't open them, is that correct?

no, as soon as i click on the file location, the computer freezes up

They might have reformatted the card to download the pics. I would try putting the card back into the camera and use a USB cord and plug that into your computer and pull them out that way.

This would delete the pics on it, but to reformat the card...

Yes, they must of re formatted the card somehow.

When i tried loading them again yesterday, the computer did some scan on the card and then it worked fine
