Lack of assistance from Ebay support for changing from and business to an individual

I am not happy with the service Ebay is providing as Ebay is happy to move a user from an individual account to a business account without any problems. But not willing to move a business to an individual account. I was moved to a business account and now I wish to move my account back to an individual account as I no longer have a business name and ABN. I have been informed that I need to create a new Ebay account and setup a new store then add all my 255 items in my current Ebay store. This is a very time consuming process which could take me 2 to 3 weeks to complete and I will loose all my current ratings, history and selling details records which I have built up over the 16 years as a member. Can Ebay please assist as I don't feel that Ebay is providing a service I am and have been paying for. if you can move a user from individual to Business it should be just as easy to move them from Business to individual account. II have been provided a complains number from your staff member Thea. can you please have someone assist me on making this a simple process please. I am happy to provide all validation details requires. Regards Tony

Ebay does not change personal accounts to business accounts.  That is obviously a choice you have made at some point.

Now for the kicker, it is impossible to revert from a business account to a personal account.

Once you've changed to a business account, you may need to submit additional verification information. If we need to verify any information, we'll send you an email and place a banner in Seller Hub letting you know what to do next.

Please be aware that once you've upgraded your personal account to a business account, it won't be possible to revert back to a personal account.

So you will have to create a new personal account and close your business account, to continue to operate on ebay.    If you continue to operate as a business account, you are likely to only create far bigger problems for yourself.

You will also have to change bank accounts for receiving funds.

As I understand, once an account has been upgraded to business it cannot be reverted back.

(Based on the frustrations of many members over the years with the same dilemma)

There are probably some legalities and taxation requirements which prevent eBay from doing so. 

However I thought you could simply continue using that account and change the eBay name of it if you wish.

You can change the eBay account name as well as the store name.

Hi Kopes, reverting from a store subscription to a standard account is OK, but having an ebay store sub and registering as a business account are different matters entirely. You are on the money with legal and taxation obligations.

I'm afraid I have only had a personal account, so I cannot tell you what you need to do

I can tell you though that nobody from eBay reads peoples posts/questions here

Recently, some eBay staff have started posting 'topics' of their own, but nobody reads posts made by community members

I am sure that one our very experienced sellers who have been through the process can advise you once they see your post though
