Is this a scam?

I found a listing for a Maxda CX-5 at the following address: REMOVED

It is listed at $5000 and only travelled around 78000kms.  I sent a message to email REMOVED and got a response from a Samantha Kelly claiming to be in the Australian Air Force selling the car she was awarded in a divorce settlement.  She said she is being deployed and selling car to give money to her mother who is going to be looking after her kids.

She says she has a deal with ebay where they'll ship the car to me for 5 day trial and she won't get the money until I'm satisfied with the car at the end of the 5 days at which point ebay will release to her the money I have paid.

Is this a scam?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just receive same message today for 2 cars.  Is this scam?

Hi there,

Thank you for contacting me and sorry for taking so long to reply, I've been messed around by one previous buyer for lack of funds, I can confirm that the car is still for sale and never been involved in an accident, Nobody has smoked in it, I've attached some pictures so you can take a closer look at the car, excellent condition without any damage or scratches at all, Mechanically A1, it's a fantastic car, only travelled 47000kms, all of which being said I expect to get $7,000 for it. The only reason for selling this car so cheaply is because I am involved in a project and I will move to New Zealand on February 27th and not come back for the next 3 years. It's the first time I've been to New Zealand and I'm a little nervous but excited at the same time. It would be a shame to keep the car in the garage for 3 years without being used and I also need some cash before leaving for New Zealand. Right now I am located in Devonport TAS, because our squad it's doing some special training, and in case you decide to buy the car, I will deliver it to your address with our RAAF truck (Transport insurance is included). Besides, it's free and I will give you a 7 days inspection period so you can take the car to a mechanic and test it before I receive your money. Also, It will come with a Roadworthy Certificate and VIC Rego, so you don't have to do the running around, Registration paid until 18/03/2021.
You’ll love the car, I can guarantee you that.

Thank you for your interest,
Joel

Re: Is this a scam?

As it's the same, essentially, as every other post in this thread, yes it is a scam.

She or someone like her has exactly the same story but with a 2010 caravan. Exact wording right down to the kids. Says that eBay will deliver🙄

She seems to have a lot of cars:

Good morning Nick, as I've told you in my first e-mail, I'm in the Air Force with my medical team and right now I am on a military base. We are training, getting ready for leaving the country.
Before leaving I had prearranged the deal with eBay I chose to hire them to take care of the whole selling process as I cannot leave the military base. The delivery process will be managed by me.
I think I can have it there at your home address within 1-2 working days. You will have 5 days to test and inspect the Mazda, prior to making any purchase. During that 5 days testing period I will not be getting any money.
Only when you give the confirmation to eBay that you are satisfied by the Mazda and wanna keep it, they will release the funds to me, otherwise, they will refund you the full amount of money without any question, and you can ship the Mazda back on my expense.I need to know if you are interested so I can ask eBay to send you the details on this deal. If interested please include in your next email your contact info for eBay (full name, shipping address and phone number), so I can notify eBay that you are selected as my possible buyer and they will contact you to explain the entire procedure.

Warmest Regards,
Sienna Reid

Re: Is this a scam?

Guys. There’s a new ad for a Corolla 2011 on Facebook. Exactly the same as you mentioned.

Be careful. I have reported as SCAM.

Re: Is this a scam?

Hello,

Well let me just jump right into it. I just got divorced and the Corolla was awarded to me in our divorce. I have a low price ($5,000) because I want to sell it before February 25th ideally.
I have a deployment coming up and would prefer to have my mother who is taking care of my children, have the cash instead.

Now, a few words about this 2011 Toyota Corolla Ascent 4 Cylinder, 1.80L. It will come with Roadworthy Certificate and Rego so you don't have to do the running around Registration in NSW, paid until 31 January 2022.
In perfect working condition, with nothing mechanically wrong - like new! This Corolla has 101,538 kilometers on the clock.
Never involved in any accident. No scratch to the paint, no sign of rust.Transmission type: Automatic.
This Corolla has a clear ppsr showing no accident history, no stolen history & no money owing on the Corolla.
Owned by non-smoking family with no pets, interior always clean and tidy.
If you decide to buy it, you'll receive all the papers, owner manual, keys, a buy-sell contract already signed by me and the clear title.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Is this a scam?

yeah good thing i did a google search because i was confused by the word quig being linked with the royal australia air force  and basically i enquired about this car and thankfully reliase it was a scam every word is exact as all the other 50 posts on here my concerns are they will target people who are maybe more elderly or less cluey about these scams and will continue to fleece money out of genuine interested people ........sadly it looks like they already have since 2014 this scam has been running
