I have just won an item I was bidding on, and I am a bit uneasy about making the payment, the seller is in Malaysia and sent me a message saying that he is new to ebay and it will take 21 days for ebay to release the money to him.  He said he needs the funds to cover postage and requested that I wait for him to send me an invoice rather than just  use the `pay now` option.  The invoice he sent is for a pay pal account but has no reference to ebay on it.  The amount is for $558.00 and wondered if someone could tell me if this request by the seller is appropriate, as it is alot of money to send off blindly without checking first. I made a purchase then went to pay immediately using Paypal at checkout as usual.  Got a message saying "Paypal can not process your payment at this time".  Odd since I've used the same Paypal account for years and never had this message.  Tried again the following day to make the payment - same message so messaged the seller and received a message back asking that I go to my Paypal account and click "send Money" and do payment that way.  Or give them my Paypal email address so they could get paypal to bill me.  This sounds like the transaction being completed outside EBay to me and I didnt want to give out my Paypal address either so I've done nothing - I think I'll just message back and say I'm not going to proceed with purchase if I cant use the Ebay checkout as usual.  I have reported the message as well to customer service.   Has anyone else had this happen?  What was the outcome? ... I purchased an item on Sunday and thought everything was OK until I received an email from Paypal saying the transaction had been declined by my bank.   I logged into Paypal because I thought the email must have been a hoax but iI was in the red.   In the email it was stated that Paypal would resubmit the payment to my bank within 5 days which is fine but on my Paypal account it states that should I use a debit or credit card for my next purchase the $18.00 would be added to that transaction.   Because I was confused about what was going to happen I decided to phone Paypal and was told I need to transfer the $18.00 from my bank account to my Paypal account.   In all the confusion I re-purchased the item thinking that it would not be paid for but Paypal have told me they honoured the payment however as I used my debit card to make the re-purchase I thought the $18.00 would be added to that transaction as that is what is stated when I log into Paypal.   I am thinking of doing nothing for a few days just to see what happens (and try to cancel the second purchase) because I can't get a clear answer and am stuck with the 3 options.    Has anyone been overdrawn on their Paypal account, if so how was it sorted? Hundreds of dollars were taken out of my account via paypal, but as it was a merchant that I had *previously used* they would not help me, I spoke to at least 5 different representatives including senior supervisors and they kept saying that as I previously authorised that merchant to take money from my account, over a year ago, any further transactions would be allowed by paypal.   I did not authorise these transactions and they did not care. They just referred to their speels and had absolutely no concern. As Paypal and EBay are one, once I get my money back which has taken over 24 hours of my life between paypal and the merchant.   The merchant has admitted my account was hacked and used fraudulently and someone had accessed my previously stored account details. However they will not acknowledge the full amount removed from my account saying that they do not see that on their end.... as I can see it on Paypal and my bank account statement you think this could be resolved, however NO Paypal just don't care. I have contacted my bank and they contacted Paypal, the bank sent me a letter saying Paypal has records of those transactions being approved by me and that if I believed they were not authorised by me to get me to contact Paypal directly!!! WHY? so they can again tell me there is nothing I can do and continue to contact the merchant. I have spent hours on online chat to the merchant who does not have a phone number SKYPE is the merchant. One session was over THREE HOURS answering a series of stupid questions such as recall two phone numbers from memory that you called from your skype account last time you used it OVER A YEAR AGO.   So if you ever authorise anyone to take money from your paypal account and then somehow a year or years more later more money gets taken and was not authorised by yourself, don't expect PAYPAL (AKA EBAY as they are one and the same now) to help.   Really shocking appalling service... seeking an alternative to Ebay and Paypal for future use. ... Hope someone can help......   I've bought item number 221251300603.   I live in Australia, I also have a US shipping address in Dayton Ohio that I use for freight consolidation and forwarding to Australia.   The seller of the above item also lives in the US.   When I won the auction, seller sent me an invoice for shipping to Australia before I got a chance to change my shipping address on my e-bay to my Dayton Ohio shipping address.   Seller can't seem to find out how to change/cancel my Australian shipping address  and replace it with a new invoice for my Dayton Ohio shipping address.   I can't pay him until he has made these changes.   All help appreciated...... ...
