21 DAY HOLD FINANCIAL SERVICE OMBUDSMAN WANTS TO HEAR FROM YOU

Having lodged a complaint against Pay Pal and Ebay in regards to illegally freezing funds and also referring the matter to the privacy commisioner.  The Financial Services Ombudsman also wants to hear about accounts where funds have been placed under the 21 day hold. Their office is anticipating an across board deluge of complaints and they wish to be advised of individual cases as believe this is a breach of law.

Lyndal, it wasn't meant to be offensive at all, the point I was trying to make was that new members coming to the thread would probably find it hard to get relevant information out of it with the amount of "bumping" going on.

I agree with Padi to a certain extent. There's no need for this thread to be bumped every hour or so, particularly when it returns to the top when somebody posts anyway. For example, it has been bumped 3 times already since 0630 this morning, which is less then 2 hours ago. Surely once every 12 hours or so is more than sufficient to see this thread remaining near the top.

this is SO frustrating.

Ive been using ebay and paypal fopr a decade and a half.

i have a relativly new seller account, been selling (with this account) for over 6 months though.

100% good feedback. Not many sales, but it all helps me (I am a student)

Now as they hold my funds for 21 days or whatever. BUT I still have to post the items straight away.

it costs me average $20 to post to USA per parcel.

As a student, if I make 5 sales in a week, thats $100 I have to fork out upfront to post.

I dont see that $100 for 3 weeks. (minus their cut of course)

$100 is more than I live on after rent and bills.

I simply dont have it spare to wait around to get.

I called paypal, they said talk to ebay. Ebay said now, talk to paypal.

This is crazy.

I have to either NOT SELL OVERSEAS. or only list a few things so i dont sell MUCH overseas.

Ebay loses either way. And so do I.

How doesa this make sense.

By the way, i send the same day as payment or the next day at latest. I put the tracking number in where its meant to go.
