Having lodged a complaint against Pay Pal and Ebay in regards to illegally freezing funds and also referring the matter to the privacy commisioner. The Financial Services Ombudsman also wants to hear about accounts where funds have been placed under the 21 day hold. Their office is anticipating an across board deluge of complaints and they wish to be advised of individual cases as believe this is a breach of law.

Wht double dipping of fees?
You pay ebay fees for the sale of the item and paypal fees for the transfer of the payment.

i am about to start selling some things again after a bit of a break so I gather my funds are going to be held for 21 days too. How many payments do they hold before they stop doing that?
I do try and get my buyers to pay by bank deposit and I explain the reason why, due to double dipping of fees, and majority of my buyers are happy to pay that way as they can see no one has ever had a problem with not receiving an item from me. So guess I will now be adding about payment being held for 21 days if paying by Paypal, so shipping may be delayed until I can afford to post the item. This will be put in my item description so it will then be up to the buyer if they want to bid on my items.
I'm afraid that won't work either, Paypal won't release the funds until the buyer has received the item and left feedback. If you try to make buyers wait for their purchases, you will end up with a string of INR cases and you'll never get rid of the hold.

It is actually in the policy that you can't with hold sending the item until the funds are released. If you send items with tracking, upload the tracking number into both eBay and PayPal. Once it's shown as delivered, PayPal will release the funds. It doesn't matter whether the buyer leaves feedback or not. If the funds aren't released a few days after tracking shows as delivered, you can ring PayPal and they will release them while you are on the phone.

Ebay is not, aka as pay pal.
Ebay is ebay and pay pal is seperate.
Lodge all complaints to ombudsman about pay pal as they hold and withdraw funds with out your knowledge.
Ebay will only tell you to go to pay pal if you complain to them about money.
Pay pal make alott of money every year from our labour and treat us like total dickheads.
Look on internet to see all complaints

Vegacomputers hasn't been here for a long time. They were given the advice they needed during the course of the thread, if you'd bothered to read it. Did you come here purely to drag up old threads, or was it to make this startling Announcement?
on 27-03-2016 02:16 AM
Nah Tippy mcgilandre is a thread-dragger......................................

Could one of the esconced gadflys point me to the board usage policy that disallows "dragging up old threads"?
Or is it just that is how said gadflys would prefer it?.... possibly to allay them the opportunity of making gooses of
themselves by commenting before realizing that the thread started years ago.....heaven forbid...
A quote straight from board usage policy
"The “Buying” and “Selling” boards are places where people can discuss tips and experiences surrounding those
eBay activities."
That a member in 2016 has had a like experience to another member in 2014 and wishes to comment appears to
peak the ire of those that like to call themselves "regulars"......
I wondered why?
given that the "regulars" could defer not to comment at all especially when their comment is only
designed to castigate said thoughtless member who would contemplate old thread revival.
If ebay did not want old threads bought up and commented on then they could instruct lithium to delete or lock
them.
Might I humbly suggest that if the "regulars" would prefer that be the norm then they should lobby ebay for a
change rather than forcing their will upon other members.

Each of the discussion boards has a defined purpose, or topic. This is to help ensure that the discussion boards are a useful
and productive forum for discussion about eBay.
For example the “Ask a Member” board is designed for people to ask questions of other eBay users and receive answers in a courteous manner.
and here was me thinking that the buying and selling board was the place to ask and answer questions???
on 27-03-2016 04:16 PM
Here's a novel thought Colic.....you could come to the boards occasionally and actually answer a few questions instead of taking to task those members who do try to help.
We all know you have all the answers.....you constantly tell us you know the answers and we don't, so put all that knowledge to good use.

How does the advice "don't drag up old threads" help in any way?
Thanks.... in advance
