AARGh AP delays an defects..

Just received a "where is my item request" & of course related defect. Just checked tracking for all items sent via click and send on that day. All of them are showing as late. First one arrived on friday 10 days late, same city. the rest are not showing any activity yet, (street lodged). Obviously a problem in an AP collection system before first scan.

Does this mean I am potentially up for a defect for each and every shipment made on that day even though its obviously an AP delay?? Anything I can do?

to lane are you saying that you have never or anybody has never had postal defets but only on that day there was a problem , if aust post or any other carrier stuffs up ,you shoukd be going after them not tyhe buyer not ebay but the carrier you used , nobody is holding you down to what carrier you used . if a buyer thinks it has taken too long and 10 days is too long ,then you should be going off at aust post to explain why ,postal problems are going to happen all the time ,maybe more the last few years ,and maybe a lot more the last few months , if i employ someone to do my local deliveries and they stuff u too many times ,the buyer will blame me not joeblow the driver , the buck stops with me , then its up to me to check with my driver , and if he stuffs up too much then he goes on holidays.

at the end of the day [you cant win lol]

Re: AARGh AP delays an defects..

Omg, that is simply nightmare material !

Why do we always seem to be wasting time taking action to protect ourselves ?

Depending on time of sale / payment, I always post same or next Business day after payment - even if that means I make a 1 hour round trip to the PO.  I have rarely complained (to myself Smiley Happy) because I figure that is just offering good service & my stars prove it works & I'm not afraid to say, I'm proud of that fact - Smiley Embarassed.  I list with 1 day handling & postage and have often read other members suggesting to cover our backsides we should change it to 3 or 4 days - I have resisted for many reasons. (eg. a few of them being :   if I'm buying, I like to think my order will be posted pronto, I 'think' if it takes 3 or 4 days to post, maybe the seller will overlook my order Smiley Surprised, and most importantly - if they don't post for 3 or 4 days, when the hell am I likely to receive my order as postage can be so slow)

The way I see it, if this new system is put in place we will all be defected out of here so fast our backsides won't even hit the ground, no matter how hard we try to do the right thing !!! Good lawd, whatever will be next ?

Time to bite the bullet I guess and either extend all listings to 5+ days handling or start sending notes with all orders perhaps - more time & money wasted when it shouldn't be necessary & the notes probably wouldn't be read anyway.

Surely it's only a trial & they'll scrap it ?!?    Heaven hep the poor sellers involved with the trial though, I really feel for then

Re: AARGh AP delays an defects..

The last 2 items I posted out were both posted the day the buyers paid. I check my feedback and DSRs and lo and behold one of them marks me down for slow postage - **bleep**, this is BS. Even with eBay estimates (which are not accurate anyway) once the item is marked as posted there is absolutely nothing a seller can do to get it to the buyer any quicker. Pointless using a courier as they are too expensive (unless you run business). The whole DSR thing is ridiculous and only gives buyers the opportunity to tarnish a seller's record - why - because they can and do not have to explain their reasons for doing so

And that is the basis of the problem in my opinion.  And if they are leaving a 3 Star rating, they are not even alerted to the fact that is classified as a negative rating !!

Re: AARGh AP delays an defects..

I think the intention is you bombard the buyer with tracking info updates so they don't get the perception you haven't posted it. Then get 3 stars for annoying them with too much communication.

Ebay are trying to allay buyer perception rather than caring who is at fault. As a buyerr it is frustrating waiting for items that "seem" to be slow, buyer doesn't really care who's responsible. Only that they seemed to be waiting ages, and so thats a mark down

Hahaha lane, I like your theory - swap one defect for another !!  Or worse still, you could end up with 2 !!

Instead of asking buyers did the item arrive within ebays guesstimated allotted time frame, maybe what they should be doing is showing date payment cleared, handling & postage time stated by seller and date posted and using that as the guide - it would be fairer to the seller, but of course, what am I thinking, they don't  give the seller a fair go, it's all about the precious protected buyer with  Smiley Sadno mention that delays in postage are beyond the control of the seller !  Once again, they are encouraging a negative response instead of a positive one

Re: AARGh AP delays an defects..

I've started using Click and Send again, which gives you the option to tick the box "send tracking updates to recipients". This way each time the parcel passes a tracking point the buyer gets an email, this way they at least know where they're parcel is.

Re: AARGh AP delays an defects..

I think I'm about to cop an INR-related defect, or at least yet another negative/neutral - it seems for every few months, I will receive one or the other, yet for whatever reason, it takes a full year to lose a defect. This one practically coincides with me receiving a PowerSeller badge too (and going from Above Standard to Top Rated).

I sent something last month (22/6) and recently received a message (not an INR claim) that it still hasn't shown up. It's a $2 item posted as large letter (as per usual), going all the way from Vic to SA. First INR I've had in over 200 sales (that said, I managed to not receive something myself, which was posted from Blackburn to Ringwood - Google the distance to see what a joke that was).

All I have is the receipt and the item's name handwritten on it, which is not valid under eBay's "proof of postage" rule.
