WARNING to all sellers: Australia Post's guaranteed next day delivery service is failing miserably !
In the past four weeks I have sent seven Express Post large envelopes containg my product.
On each occasion they were posted at my metropolitan Melbourne Post Office to GUARANTEED NEXT DAY DELIVERY postcodes ( six to metro Sydney and Brisbane and one to a large county Vic town)
On EVERY occasion they took TWO days to be delivered.
I made complaints on every occasion and so far have received six replacement Express Post envelopes back as compensation, with Australia Post's apologies.
There has been NO EXPLANATION from Australia Post as to the delay and no promise that there would be any investigation.
I realise it is a busy time for Australia Post.... BUT REALLY !.... The way it is going, instead of next day delivery guaranteed, it will be TWO day delivery guaranteed !

Thankyou 'tippy toes' for your interest and input.
Australia Post, on my numerous phone calls, have acknowledged that I have adhered to the guidelines.and have admitted their error.
Some of my seven items were posted mid morning and some in the afternoon.
My fully fledged PO has two mail clearances at 2 p.m. and just after 5 p.m.
I have witness the second mail clearance and spoken to the driver, who has assured me all Express items were cleared and on their way.
All seven items I sent were scanned around the same time at the Melbourne mail clearance 'gateway that evening (around 9.p.m.) but still failed to reach their guaranteed next day delivery destinations for two days.
I can do no more but warn other Express Post users.

It’s a valid warning.
Generally, we have no reason to speak other than well of AP. But, have had one Express parcel take three days. The item was required for an advertising photography shoot and the buyer was livid with everyone, but still left good FB for us, once they understood our position.
With Express Post we always make a point now of advising that while AP guarantees next day delivery, we don’t, but in a very pleasant way. I think you need to, just to cover your pretty little derrière’s 🙂

With Express Post it is a case of "best case" scenario. Next day may happen, but it may not. Been that way for years.

I have an express post parcel coming and ebay says the estimate is 7 days what the **bleep**?
Should I complain to ebay,AP or the seller if it doesn't arrive tomorrow?

Touchy, Touchy !
FWIW we send 3-4 Express Mail items a week and in the past 12 months ONLY ONE has not been delivered by the deadline.
This suggests to me that your problem is the exception rather than the rule and so I would be looking byond the obvious for the reason.

"I take umbrance that you somehow seem to think that Express Post is a little 'earner' for me."
Meaning I assume you refunded the buyer for the extra cost of the Express Mail service they never received?

as others have said - and i'm sure you're aware - getting your Express Post item to the post office before close of business does not guarantee it for next-day delivery.
my post office closes at 5:30pm daily, but their parcel mail and Express Post items are collected at 4:15pm. if they're not there by then, they won't even be collected until the next day.
i send every item i sell via Express Post and have done for the past 10 years or so. i've had very few problems with late delivery - but that being said, i live in WA and so most destinations take 2 days anyway. where i have complained on the odd occasion if it takes multiple days more, they're extremely quick to provide a free replacement of the postage item used and that's more than enough to make me happy.
the failing could be at your local post office as opposed to on the Aus Post end.

If you bothered to check, the OP does free postage, and has sent as Express Post
at her own expense.

I must be one of the lucky ones - mail lodged over the counter at my PO will be collected at close (5pm), but they also have 2 express and 2 regular post boxes out the front, both of which are cleared at 6pm weekdays.
It's not a major PO, just small-ish metro shopping centre, but I think they did have to pick up some of the slack after the business centre closed (they were pretty much in walking distance to each other).
I have had late deliveries numerous times (probably a few that I don't even know about, since I don't check unless queried, and my ETAs are longer so buyers may not realise they should have arrived the next day, but by and large things go as expected. The one time I had an issue across multiple express parcels lodged the same day was when I used the self-checkout station and put the parcels in the chute - the staff didn't retreive them until the next day and scanned them as lodged again, so they were delayed an extra day that time, but AP did compensate for those, at least.
