From email just in:
We are writing to advise the introduction of parcel lodgement process changes.
From 31 May 2026, you will be required to provide recipient contact details for every parcel.
You will soon receive a separate email outlining changes to your MyPost Business Online Sending Terms of Use.

Then they buy elsewhere - simples. It's never been an issue before, and it certainly won't be an issue now.

I thought you could change it in checkout as mine shows an old phone number that is different to the verified one with ebay.

What the email actually says... although you already provide the receiver's contact details, we now "require" you to provide those same details.
Nothing to see here... move along
While it was never intended to be an ' issue ' but simply an update for those not receiving the email.
Those who will now have to remember to add said information when posting any parcel.
Carry on.

Along with an email address, the buyer usually has two numbers showing on the order details page. One associated with the delivery address and one associated with the account.
They are not always the same, and sometimes there is only one number rather than two - but both an email address and at least one telephone number are always included. It is and remains a requirement for every eBay member to provide an up-to-date contact phone number.
Saying that eBay doesn't require a phone number is simply not true.
I can't recall one single occasion where I've posted any item without a phone number on the label - letters included. I can, however, recall dozens of times when I've reported buyers for having false contact details.

Well I dont know how this will work because you cant send email addresses or ph numbers through their messaging system
I had a seller message me saying that I only have a landline number, and from May they need mob and email address
i have that many junk email messages from them, I dont go through them usually, so my email address is with them
The mobile is on record as they want 2 factor aiuthentication. occasionally

If the seller uploads tracking you can track your parcel via AP. You will know if a delivery was 'attempted' and then arrange to collect your item.

"I had a seller message me saying that I only have a landline number, and from May they need mob and email address"
In relation to the email sellers have received and this thread, the seller will need an email address or a mobile number
You're correct though in thinking that if one or the other aren't shown on a parcel and Australia Post refuse to accept the parcel, you won't receive anything!

Whether you use Ebay Postage Labels or integrated API with My Post , this information is already provided. The good thing now is with My Post, you will no longer need to check the box asking if AP should email updates to receiver
I think the only people that this affects is the casual seller that does over the counter postage rather than label creation via the two I mentioned and that too will change once the new eBay free store selling format comes into play.

What if the buyer doesn't want their email or phone number on the parcel?
twyngwyn
I wouldnโt want that either
but I donโt have My Post Businessโฆ.so they donโt even know Iโm a customer. I didnโt get an email??
............................................................................................................................................................................................
twyn, do you use labels or not ?
Forgetting about AI information found on Google, has anyone actually checked everything out with Australia Post ?
I can't confirm the following is correct and happy to be corrected with new information, but I've just read elsewhere , written by an LPO in response to a question:
LPO
This isn't for everyday customers sending parcels!
It's ONLY for MyPOST BUSINESS customers or ePARCELS so won't be relelevant ..
General People can continue sending exactly as they are
XXX
Thank you, got the email today but it wasn't clear how they collect the information (I'm not a fan of putting phone numbers or email addresses on the parcel for privacy reasons)
LPO
It's only business customers that need to add emails not the general public so continue doing what you're doing
