Recently I asked ebay to help me because a buyer chopped the back off a platinum diamond ruby and sapphire pin to wear as a pendant - the wrote in messages they did this
Then...next day they started a return stating it was broken or damaged
i had documentation from an independant appraiser it was in good condition from an independent party I was never asked to provide this document..
I accepted the return
I reached out to ebay because this item was damaged...and changed....I don't know how to cover these losses as a seller there is no shop on the planet that allows buyers to alter items then forces sellers to accept back an item that may never be sold again and/or is damaged
By reaching out and asking for help I have now been told I will not get my final value fee credit back...I am being charged for asking for help
I NEVER ESCALATED THIS TO A CLAIM I JUST ASKED FOR HELP UNDER DURESS
I tried to discuss with the high value team but feel I have no rights
I feel frightened to start this conversation on ebay and feel I will be persecuted further for it but I am terribly distressed at the treatment I have had

Hi
I once had a buyer buy on a different site they left a positive review stating they loved the earrings but a year later reported to fair trading they were unhappy with them it was when covid started and after wearing them for a year they decided they would like to return somehow legal or not for their money back...really happened
Most buyers ARE HONEST.
But these policies are terrible - there are issues with every sales channel it isn't as simple as to state any sales channel is better and ebay reaches more international customers...without ebay you cannot reach those buyers that is the fact so ebay is a powerful and beautiful thing...the policies where sellers have no rights actually is the issue

thank you I really appreciate every reply and the fact you did reply...truly I was scared to even reach out online because I have felt persecuted as a seller...
it is powerful and valuable to have your kind words
on 26-05-2022 08:34 PM
it is deselected as a fact before this happened
on 26-05-2022 08:35 PM
no you cannot refuse the buyer has the last say I could not refuse that is as a fact untrue and if you were on the receiving end you will find your words are not the case nor the fact
on 26-05-2022 08:36 PM
not true
the buyer stated it was damaged I could not refuse even though they altered it...you see they stated a stone was damaged at the same time...so I could not refuse
would someone like to believe me and help me here?
or just attack me...
I get this and have been on ebay 2 decades sold a lot of items
I COULD NOT REFUSE THE RETURN
FACT.
THANKS but wrong ...try listening

more complicated they chopped it ...as in received it were happy cut the back off..
then stated a stone was damaged and requested to return....
you see they lied to return after altering it...
I never was asked for documentation
the return was automatically accepted by ebay I could not do anything

you cannot refuse a return if a buyer states an item is not as described
they made up a different reason after altering that wasn't true to send back
on 26-05-2022 08:39 PM
tried
they would not assist me

Please look at pursuing a criminal case as I mentioned before, as the amount at stake is so high.
I do agree that despite Ebay's words, their seller protection is quite poor.

As has been explained to you by many other members, YOU are the one who allowed yourself to be scammed. You are hardly a newbie, so it is not unreasonable to expect that you would keep yourself up to date as to how eBay works.
Demonstrably you haven't. We might all have sympathy for you, but YOU are the one who allowed yourself to be ripped off
