Another thread re AP price rises :8}

Just to save me checking all the other threads or trying to work it out on the AP website, could somone please tell me the prices of 500g satchels next week? People seem to be saying the regular satchels will be cheaper than C&S....or was it regular parcels?

I'm a bit confused, and wondering if I should go and buy a load of regular satchels before the price increase.......which reminds me, how much is a regular satchel at the moment?

Thanks 😄

I just posted two regular parcels today and the PO receipt shows the weight range and more importantly, the postcode for each. The tracking number is termed 'Article ID' .

Don't know how I managed to upload two photos - I thought I'd deleted the first and only meant to upload one. If you click on the arrow next to attachment symbol at the top, then click on one of the images, you will see it a lot more clearly.

hi punch,

the price of Prepaid Parcel Post satchels increased on 8 april

small 220x355 up to 500gr  $8.25 or $78.40 for 10

med 310x405  up to 3kg  $13.40 or $127 for 10

large 435 x 510 up to 5kg $16.70 or $158.65 for 10

click and send will be $7.15 and $11.70 next week

regular small parcels up to 500gr are now $6.95
  (own packaging)

over 500gr pay by distance

OK - I'm confused even more now - Please help me. (use small words and speak slowly)

The prices in the post quoted are the prices for regular pre paid satchels, is that correct?

Do these meet Pay Pal requirements?

It's just confusing me when compared to the C&S prices of $7.15 and $11.70 - they seem to be cheaper to me - and as far as I can work out the comply to satisfy PayPal - so why is Punch and Kazbar talking about using the C&S  500g satchels but using them as regular post parcels for $6.95?

The prices quoted by Putney are for the (new) red Prepaid Parcel Post satchels (except the mediums at $127 for 10 should be $127.30 I think). These satchels all have bar codes and individually numbered stickers - my understanding is that you could use these as proof of postage (according to my local PO) but I am sure there will be differing stories. Whether that meets paypal requirements - I have no idea!

I think the mention of using the bulk C&S satchels (assuming the flat rate ebay ones) is more to do with using the satchels up as mailers/packaging rather than using the actual flat rate service and pricing which would be dearer

thanks chez

pretty sure I've got it now - all things considered postage, packaging, satchel cost and basic PayPal compliance - I'm pretty sure I'm correct when I come to the conclusion that C&S and the flat rate shipping options are about $1 cheaper than Prepaid parcel post - so all is good.

C&S 500g satchel - $7.15 + 15c satchel is still a lot cheaper than $8.25 for C&S - plus I don't have to write out the labels! I hate that part!

Interesting because I am actually leaning towards Prepaid at the moment. I'd be getting atleast 10 satchels to use so that is $7.84 a piece (versus $7.30 C&S) but I won't have to muck around online filling in/importing details, formatting labels, botching up bar codes or printing pages, firing up the printer, running out of ink. Just copy and paste address from order info and instantly spit out a nifty little label via my Dymo Labelwriter. I don't know, it just seems less work and only 54 cents difference in price.

chez, I am not convinced, (but happy to be shown where I am wrong) that regular Prepaid gives me enough protection to satisfy PayPal, whereas C&S does.

for the C&S - after I registered, as long as that account is linked to your eBay account, it imports everything for you - you just click one or two buttons (though I admit the first time I used it, was a nightmare - but once I got that first time out of the way, now it's a dream)

The labels are already formatted and get printed with the barcodes when the details are imported - then you just have to pay and hit print - it even gives you records of the transactions for your file, or I am pretty sure they are stored on line - at least for a while - so record keeping is a breeze - not sure about your printer though - mine is just hooked up and works when I press print LOL - it takes no effort (well I do have to lean over about 20 cm to retrieve whatever it prints out - LOL) and with 4 students in the house - we very rarely run out of printer ink - cos I always have a back up supply LOL

Best wishes with sorting through all this - but it's the PayPal compliance that has sold me on the C&S (plus I don't own a dynamo LOL)

oh, and once you pay for your label with C&S for something you're linking from your eBay account - it marks it as sent for you and automatically inserts the tracking number for the buyer to see - so that's less work for me too. I'm always nervous I will enter the tracking number incorrectly when I do it manually.

But it has simplified my bookwork so much - it does it all for me!
