Anybody know if one can prevent a user selecting a Parcel locker as a ship to address?

Auspost make it clear that parcel lockers are for parcels and not letters.  However despite all my items being setup with Auspost untracked letter as the shipping method, customers can select a parcel locker.

Does the Ebay setup allow sellers to prevent parcel lockers being used?

Are there any items that aren't suitable for Parcel Lockers?

Yes. For safety and security reasons, the following items can't be delivered to (or sent from) a Parcel Locker:
  • Letters and standard mail that can be delivered to your letterbox
  • Express Post letters

I believe AP onforward ineligible items to the physical address.

I have had no repercussions from sending non-parcels to Parcel Lockers.

It depends a little on the local delivery centre and if the real address has being included.

Our parcel locker will not forward on,  but the one a few k's down the road serviced by another DC will.    They are not obligated to do it.

I have had a few that had a parcel locker, and I had only a letter to send, but there was no problem.   It is up to the buyer to provide their address - ebay only say to send to the address given - so that's what I do.     As far as I can see, it is the buyer's responsibility, not the sellers - for all I know they might have an arrangement with their post office

Why do so many people have such difficulty with comprehension?

The OP has posted the guidelines and then stated their personal opinion which differs from the quoted text. The operative words here are "that can be delivered to your letterbox", but unfortunately, far too many stop reading as soon as they see the word "Letters".

With some letterboxes having a narrower opening than the size of a regular letter, mail must be folded to fit in the slot. As an example, think of the hooded cast letterboxes mounted in brick/concrete walls which are extremely common in older houses and unit blocks.

Staff other than the SPDO have no knowledge of the letterbox size at any address (other than their own) - and in many cases have absolutely no idea where the recipient lives - so they must assume that all letterboxes are of the smallest dimensions.

If a simple "Please Do Not Bend" sticker is added to a letter, then it in not able to be delivered to such a letterbox, so it automatically qualifies for Parcel Locker delivery.

It's not rocket surgery.

If it doesn't fit in these so-called 'older' letterboxes, then the postie takes it back to the PO for pickup.

OR

He bends the thing in half anyway.    It's happened.

Parcel lockers are not for letters.   Otherwise wouldn't they be called Postal Lockers?

I'm asking if I can prevent a buyer from selecting a parcel locker given the freight methods I use can not be sent to a Parcel locker.  Do you know how to do that or did you just want to post a pointless dissertation on the different types of letterboxes?

For everybody else - I also have sent many letters to parcel lockers that were accepted.  but I've recently had a few RTS'd.  I spoke to the post office manager and was told they have been directed by HQ to RTS unsuitable letters.  My local branch doesn't, but others do.

I'd rather block the shipping method the same way you can block PO boxes if you send items via courier.  I ship a high volume of items with an automated process for printing labels.  Messaging a customer (and hoping they reply) to get a different address and manually changing it is time consuming and interrupts order processing.
