Buyer won't pay postage even though Ebay state in bold letters that best offers do not include postage. Ebay did not comment but side stepped the issue and sent his complaint directly to PayPal who promptly held the money from my account without comment. Another case of Big Brother Ebay abandening sellers in favour of buyers. I relisted the item deleted the 'paid' symbol from the transaction, and will not trade with this buyer at all.

How could they refuse to pay postage? Was it not included in the invoice? Even if someone pays straight away without waiting for an invoice, the postage should be included. If you didn't have postage included, then you have to wear it. You can't make someone pay it afterwards if it wasn't included in the purchase.
If you haven't received the payment, open a case against them and then add them to your blocked list.

most of your items show FREE POSTAGE - did the sold item have a postage cost?

The only sold item that has postage listed from this ID was sold back in April. All the rest show free postage. I would be more concerned about getting another neg if I was the OP, to go with their currently dreadful feedback which is at 95.8%. The only sold listing showing at the moment for June was a backpack that was listed as free postage. Could the postage cost for the seller have been more than what the backpack sold for and now he wants to buyer to cough up?
OP if the listing states free postage, you can't then make the buyer pay for postage costs, even if the postage is more than what the item sells for. If you want the buyer to pay for postage, you have to show the postage costs in the listings. Otherwise, you are only going to end up with more negatives. If you get too many more, ebay will remove your selling priviledges.

I think you have misinterpretated the message with Best Offers regarding postage.
If the item you sold with Best Offer had free postage on it then the buyer is entitled to free post - just because they have made an offer it doesn't mean you can now add a separate postage cost.

I bet that's enough to get the OP's jokstrapp in a twist

Guys read the Ebay terms re making an offer. It clearly states the OFFERS DO NOT INCLUDE POSTAGE.
They need to re engineer their rules to be very clear on this, and setup their program to eliminate the reference to free postage from the invoice before it goes out. Multiple item adverts are the most problematic with this issue.
