Sellers, if you want increase your sales dont use the global shipping program, , you dont see that the international customer is getting charged rediculous postage prices and not buying due to the rip off by EBAY who are scamming $millions daily
.Absolutely unacceptable monopolising money grab .

I have just been charged $678 after I had already agreed on postage. I complained to eBay and they can’t tell me what the charges are for. They say it’s for GST. But the maximum GST can be is 10%. About $170. But I got charged $678.
This is a disgrace. Especially as there was no warning for these charges. The first I heard of them was after I had purchased the item.
I feel that this is fraud.
You were given some answers on the other thread you posted on :-
Edit. Note especially lyndal's response.

The cost of your item was over $1000 so there is a lot more than GST payable.
You have to pay Duty at the appropriate rate of the item, Customs Clearance fees as well as several other fees and charges.
As long as I can remember there has been a rule of thumb that the fees and duties on items over $1000 will be somewhere between 20-45% depending on the rate of Duty appliable to the item.

You've posted this across multiple topics, so I'll reply across multiples, too.
As I pointed out in my response here, you've simply failed to read the listing properly, as the import duties for a GSP sale are most definitely shown before the conclusion of an auction or the purchase of a BIN item.
To quote my other post,
" ...here's another GSP-enabled item from the same product category, for auction, from the USA, showing the same info, which at the time of posting has a single bid and 4 days left to run:
Item #154049939162 | 1 bid @ USD850 | Shipping ~USD61 | Import charges USD308.88 (estimated and based on current bid). "
You need to read through eBay listings properly before bidding/buying. This important with any eBay listing, but especially so with items located overseas.

I hear you and I feel for you christopher6871. I agree too. Anyway, I'll keep my thoughts on GSP to myself. I'd just like add that I ask sellers if they could please re-list as USPS being the carrier. Nearly all are very happy to do so.
As I've only had a few item (Less than 5) come via GSP as I always try for USPS, I'm not sure how it goes with the cart thing. Would that work as an indicator?
An exmple here on a random item in the US (LP)
Anyway, I'm real sorry to hear that this has happened to you. That's a lot of dough! I hope that you don't encounter this kind of issue again.Item cost: US $16.17(AU $22.60)Shipping cost: International Priority Shipping+ US $23.07(AU $32.25)Import charges: + US $8.03 import charges(AU $11.23

Totally agree with you on this one "TIppy" Seller protecton is the key ! I stopped selling large items internationally due to being out of pocket several hundred dollars sent by courier or airmail and run the risk of losing out if there is damage or a dispute ,let alone the FVF fees im charged onshipping Let GSP take care of it

on 31-08-2020 05:29 PM

Like stawka I have not used the service but it is definitely very expensive.
If you must use a mail forwarding service there are plenty that are reliable and a lot cheaper than the AP service.....Google is your friend
