This could have resulted in a lost postal item but due to the honesty of a good person did not.
We sent out a $12 item by regular mail (untracked) just before easter.
Today we received an email from a person to say she had received a package for a person who does not reside at her address.
The address we mailed to was U6 / 53-55 "A" Street, Hunters Hill
The recipient said she lives at U6 / 53-55 "B" Street, Hunters Hill.
Same Unit/Street number wrong street name.
Quick look on Google maps showed the two near identical addresses only about 150-metres apart.
I contacted the buyer about it who had not yet contacted us about a missing item.
She was very friendly about it and since it was not far away said she would be happy to go and retrieve it.
The recipient said its OK she will take a walk around and hand deliver it in person.
Fortunately I had a contact info (advertising) sheet included inside the envelope. The recipient had opened it up and found this so that is how she was able to make contact with us by email.
How good are some people hey?
I thanked her profusely and offered her to take a look on our web site and choose a free item for her honesty and efforts.
Just shows how closely AP posties read the address labels. Near enuff is good enuff.
Good outcome in the end. But could just as easily have turned out very badly.

that is excelent a couple in a 1000 is pretty perfect ,but if it was worst ,you would still have to use AP as yours is letters and courier companies can not compete , just like AP cant compete with multiple parcels . different carriers for diferent jobs have a nice day

JOE, YOU ARE HIDING FROM SOMETHING THAT IS PLAIN TO SEE AND OBVIOUS TO MANY. Please read the rest of this post AND report the post!
joe, again, please report the post that gives the tracking numbers. You do not need to be a hacker to see the buyer information, just take a look at the screen capture below. Look at the big red arrow (I tried to make it easy for you). And anyone who looks at the information IS NOT breaking the law, but you might be breaking privacy regulations by posting information that makes private information available in a public forum!
If you don't believe me, go to the tracking site you asked members to look at. Enter just one of the tracking numbers you supplied. Go to the bottom of the tracking advice and click the image that the BIG RED ARROW points to. You will then see the private details of your buyer.
Please joe, report the post and ask for it to be removed, and please don't attack or criticise me, just do the right thing for your buyers and report the post!

If looking at your buyer's personal private information is breaking the law, then you too have broken the law because YOU facilitated the viewing of the information. I didn't have to log in to see this image, YOU made it publicly available by giving the tracking numbers.
note to joe - hope you can now see how you put information in a post that preserves the private details of individuals.

JOE, YOU ARE HIDING FORM THE OBVIOUS i.e. There are none so blind as those that can not see.
STOP HIDING AND ACT NOW JOE, THE LONGER YOU WAIT THE GREATER THE DAMAGE YOU ARE DOING TO YOUR OWN REPUTATION
