Australia Post Price Rises - Here We Go

maybe I am reading the table incorrectly, but to me it looks like flat rate/price satchels will be a thing of the past.

The pricing table for domestic parcels > parcel post  (http://auspost.com.au/media/documents/april-8th-2013-parcel-post.pdf) looks like it has a basic charge for a satchel to which is added the "distance charge per kg" based on where the satchel is sent from and where it is sent to.  Looks more like a "user pays" scale of charging

Delve a bit deeper, LOTB. Or look right down the bottom of the page. The satchels have gone up, but will still be available.

yep, just re-read the table, I read it wrong the first time.  Ignore my previous post (have reported it and requested it be removed).

Depends on the tracking, soul. The current satchels are trackable, but only to the delivery centre, so ineligible (without a lot of paperwork) for Paypal protection. They are going up, which makes C&S (tracking of which is allegedly to the door and thus protected) far more attractive. If the C&S prices don't go up.

Thanks, dave. At the very least, hopefully a mandatory tracking number could mean automatic 5 stars for Communication. ๐Ÿ™‚

Removal of Express Post 3kg large and 5kg large satchels Click to expandClick to collapse

As part of our product standardisation, Prepaid Express Post 3kg large and Express Post 5kg large satchels will be withdrawn from 8 April 2013. However, if you have purchased prepaid Express Post 3kg large and 5kg large satchels, you can continue to lodge these parcels.

why does the new pricing table include pre-paid express satchel; 500g, 3kg and 5kg ???

am i going mad???

No. You are confusing standard satchels with large satchels.

I don't see any confusion over the pricing of express parcels, they are withdrawing express satchels and the pricing is for express parcels using your own packaging which has always been available.

Doesn't effect me much, I will wait until they make an announcement about C&S before I am doing the happy dance.

I do have some reg post labels left (from when they were under three dollars lol) but as I only use them if I am sending a large letter I will be able to use them.
