Australia Post long delivery times, missing items & insurance.

I am having so much trouble with Australia Post delivery lately, and just wondered if anyone else is having similar problems.

I use eParcel for all our deliveries, and have had quite a few items in the past few weeks that have taken over 2 weeks to be delivered.  When tracking these items, they haven't even been updated in the AP system since the lodgement!  I have tried contacting AP but all they do is just open another case *sigh*.  Sometimes the item turns up, but quite often the item is never seen again... well at least is never returned to us!

I have also considered using the insurance option for my parcels, but that is only going to increase the cost.  Is there a way that this insurance can be an option that the buyer can choose as an extra charge if they wish to???  I have looked into the postage options, but can't find anything for insurance.

Any feedback, help or suggestions?

i like your post  no good a courier phoning you first as i might be at work,

maybe if you could let every courier company or postal service  your working hours the coming week , lol

why phoning works better.

too many times not just me but other posters have said on these boards , ap driver leaves parcel at the front and does not even ring the door bell, while the buyer is inside and can see them. i have had them drop a parcel on my front porch where every tom dick and harry walking up the street cansee, when if they leave it a meter away in front of my door nobody coulsd see the parcel  mmmm.

if drivers would ring as i always request it, you might be in the backyard you might be next door having intimate moments with your neighbours or where ever, the driver rings you up and you can say could you leave it at my back door, or could you put it behind the caravan or in the elect box or where ever, or say just card me thanks. is a 100 times better than someone just leaving it  on your porch where every body can see it.

What part of I can't take phone calls when I'm at work do you not understand? I thought I was talking in English, but obviously I was talking in gobbleydook. Today I worked 6am to 9pm. Yesterday I worked 6.30am to 7pm. I was at work all weekend (I worked 40 hours over the weekend). Friday I worked from 9am to 1am. Tomorrow I am supposed to be off, but when the usual suspects call in sick, I will expect to be woken from slumber any time from 5am. I am expecting a REdelivery tomorrow as I wasn't home today to take possession and sign for my delivery. I can't go and pick it up because it's not an option.

The delivery I am expecting strictly stated that the item is not to be left, even if I authorise it, under any circumstances. They won't be calling me as they don't have my phone number (it's not an eBay purchase). So, if I happened to get hauled into work tomorrow, I miss out and risk it being sent back.

It doesn't matter what works for you or your customers, it doesn't work for me. I knew this delivery was coming via courier, it was the only option of delivery. However, I wasn't expecting it to come overnight from Perth to Barmedman. I thought it would have been arriving tomorrow, which I am supposed to be off, which is why I wasn't worried. Especially as it was picked up yesterday at 2pm WA time and according to the tracking number was still in WA at 6am NSW time this morning. Attempted delivery today was 2pm.

So, once more, I can't take phone calls when I'm at work so they can ring to their hearts content and all they'll get is that my phone is switched off. I don't make the rules, blame my employer. No phones at work, period.

Re: Australia Post long delivery times, missing items & insurance.

i think you need some sleep , a business even the one you work at does not run on 1 persons problems.

read carefully  read again.   if aus post just drops your parcel to the front of your home and leves like they do and some items they do leave cards. then having them or who ever ring the buyer up and ask what would you like me to do with your parcel is a [bonus]

because most of the time you the buyer is insade or in the backyard.

and who cares you work the same hours like most of us.  in general  not you  there sre more than 1 person living at buyers houses .ever heard of spouses , friends children , even animals .

you think posts are all about you .mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

and so what if you are not at home because you are always at work , if your home or next to a phone its a bonus  if not bad luck.

Be careful joe, that post could easily be construed as a personal attack on another member.

Do you remember the board policy prohibiting inter-personal disputes?

Re: Australia Post long delivery times, missing items & insurance.

In general most people are at work during the day, and more often than not, so are their spouse. I don't know of many people who have friends living with them, but even if they did, the friend would probably be at work too. Not everyone has the luxury of working from home. A lot of eBay buyers and sellers have regular day jobs. They don't work from home, therefore don't have the same luxuries afforded to you.

Read carefully again: what is the point in Aust Post or a courier calling you to ask where you want your parcel left if you are unable to take a call? Once my husband leaves for work, he can't be contacted either. No, we are not in the same industry, but we live in a REGIONAL area, where more often than not, once you leave town, there is NO phone reception. Can you imagine it? Oh the horror! Not having any phone reception? I know that's hard for a city dweller to comprehend, but that is something that rural people have to contend with. No phone reception.

I am not the only person who is not able to take calls during the day, or when at work. Some people might be in a meeting, or have landed themselves in hospital, or taking a group of school kids on an excursion. There are a multitude of reasons why people can't take a call during the day. There are also plenty of industries that have a no phone at work policy. Again, I know that's hard for you to comprehend, but that's the way it is.

Last time I checked, my pets were unable to sign for deliveries, or even instruct someone where to leave a parcel.

I have always used OZ Post. My patriotic reasons aside, a short while ago, I sold an item to a valued repeat customer.  I required a signature on said delivery. This covered the value of my goods if damaged on receipt. I paid $2.75 for the signature and posted the eparcel over the counter at OZ Post the same day. Paying for and printing the label on eBay provides tracking information.

A simple delivery from SA to QLD?

I received an tearful email a couple of weeks later from her stating that she hadn't received it.

I immediately offered a full refund. I even offered to send her another one (mine) gratis. She refused.

She was treated shoddily at her local Post Office and asked me to look into it on her behalf.

I was forced to open a "missing or lost" case with Australia Post. Apparently it's the responsibility of the Sender to do this.

Some time later, I received a "Your article has been delivered" notification from OZ Post.

Here is an exact quote from myself to Australia Post:

"This article was posted on either 24 or 25 September.
It was, after a great deal of nonsense finally delivered to my Customer on 23rd October.
What astonishes me is the fact that I have received absolutely no explanation or apology for delivering an item that arrived a month late.
My customer deserves an explanation too. Tell me what you think I should say to her."

After several repeated formal requests I have yet to receive an answer.

Australia Post is the only thing beyond our control.  Yet we sometimes get 1 star for delivery period.

I hope this information may be of assistance.

mind your business and when i speak to you ,  you may answere, and if you dont have anything useful to say on these boards , then dont say it.    thank you manners go a long way.

and when do i ever put anybody down   women   i did not think with a posting or any id   can you tell the diference between malea and females. in fact i could not tell if you are a male or female. i can only quess.    also i have always admitted i cant spell  so there,   lol

Thank you so much for your succinct reply joe, manners as you say do go a long way, as does respect.

But then real/correct answers to questions on the boards do tend to have a a little credibility attached to them as well.
