I am having so much trouble with Australia Post delivery lately, and just wondered if anyone else is having similar problems.
I use eParcel for all our deliveries, and have had quite a few items in the past few weeks that have taken over 2 weeks to be delivered. When tracking these items, they haven't even been updated in the AP system since the lodgement! I have tried contacting AP but all they do is just open another case *sigh*. Sometimes the item turns up, but quite often the item is never seen again... well at least is never returned to us!
I have also considered using the insurance option for my parcels, but that is only going to increase the cost. Is there a way that this insurance can be an option that the buyer can choose as an extra charge if they wish to??? I have looked into the postage options, but can't find anything for insurance.
Any feedback, help or suggestions?

if its a aus post fault how can anybody blame ebay ,you are not held to ransom by using aus post, maybe for envelopes , plenty of other choices , that send parcels satchels and so. sometimes you have to use more than 1 carrier , or try new carriers. some are cheaper some are dearer , you and only you has to work out which is better in the long run.

And you need to find out if your customer is happy to receive a courier delivery Joe.
Today I had 2 courier companies leave cards for me to collect parcels. Toll is no problem as I can leave an Authority to leave on line and it will be redelivered.
Couriers Please has left a card for me to collect my parcel from my local Connect Newsagency....the nearest one is 11 kilometres away.
Neither seller stated that they were using couriers...if they had I would NOT have bought from them.
I am beyond angry about the Couriers Please delivery and am very seriously thinking of not even picking it up.

you have some good points, but i have all my deliveries phone buyer first , so that way the buyer can either say safe drop it where ever or dont leave i will pick up from depot or what..

But none of your deliveries will fit in a letterbox anyway.
I, and probably many others, send a significant amount of our sales by large letter, which may or may not fit in a letterbox.
And few of us routinely use couriers. Certainly not for letters.

No point a courier calling me before delivery because if I'm at work, I can't take calls. Simple as that.

@trrautoparts wrote:I couldn't agree more! And again, I'm glad to know that I am not the only one. Everything that we list and sell is in stock and if purchased by 1pm we send the same day.
And to add insult to injury...
I had one buyer who eventually received his item after nearly 2 weeks (Qld to Nth NSW!) and was very happy with the way I followed it all up for him. He gave me positive feedback that he was happy with the service, but then marked me down with only 1 star for the item not being delivered when eBay said is would. I can totally understand his reasoning, but why should the sellers be punished for AP stuff ups??? I upload the tracking every day, so eBay could easily check that I followed all the guidelines, and mailed the item the saame day!
There has to be something to stop sellers being penalised when it is clearly a problem with AP.
Did the buyer leave you 1 star for postage time? If they did, get onto eBay and get them to check the tracking number that will show you posted within your handling time. Twice now I have received 1 star for postage time. I sent eBay a message both times, got them to check the tracking, which showed I had posted well within my handling time (my handling time is 5 days, I posted both those items same day as payment). They removed both defects without any hesitation. Buyers forget that postage time is how quickly the seller posts, not how long it takes to get there.

Joe, Tippy works shift work. If she is at work when the courier calls she can not even answer her phone to give any instructions.
By the way, both the items I mentioned above are letters......one is an A4 large letter the other would be an ordinary small letter so no reason to send either of them by courier.

so isnt it better the carrier rings you first in case your home or where ever you are to answere a phone than to just leave it at your front door ,if its a bad spot, which aus post drivers do and sometimes they card you. if sellers or what want to use toll express and send a letter , i have heard toll is a very good company , so maybe thats why they use them , there is enough proof even on these boards and most days in the papers that maybe aus post has lost the plot, sometimes, and they are talking about in total 2000 workers to go.
what i dont understand is the amount of letters have and will drop due to the internet, if these letter sales had not dropped how would they cope now.
