Automate Buyer Feedback if Feedback is not Left

I have noticed a lot of buyers do not leave feedback. They may simply forget or are too busy to leave Positive Feedback. So there is a lot of "un-left Feedback" that would benefit all Sellers. If ebay were to 'automate' the buyers positive feedback after a set time frame;

1. The buyer would not have to worry about leaving feedback,

2. If the buyer doe's have issues they will generally contact you, leave negative feedback or make a complaint within a month,

3. The Seller would get a more accurate & true feedback score,

4. A Seller would not have to say "feedback will only be left when positive feedback is received"

4. and there would be no more 'un-left feedback'.

After all 'ebay' is founded on its Buyer / Seller Feedback System.

So please help me to ask ebay to automate buyer feedback,

Thanks...

Automate Buyer Feedback if Feedback is not Left

I'm a believer that if the Buyer pays in a reasonable time. Then they have kept up with their end of the deal, so I leave P+ FB automatically once payment is complete. If there are any issues thereafter, it is as a result of the item or seller and not the Buyer........

A Seller would not have to say "feedback will only be left when positive feedback is received"

All the seller is doing is let the buyer know they have automated feedback set up and so if the buyer, for some obscure reason, wants feedback they will have to leave it first.

As a seller cannot give a buyer anything but pos feedback and the automated system does not come into play unless a pos it left why would you not buy from somebody who may be an excellent seller just because they want to keep you well informed?

Please don't turn this into a "Hate the Seller campaign"

I dunno, l'm a bit miffed with feedback at the moment, due to my new grey dot.

l asked the buyer why they didn't contact me when the item arrived instead of leaving a grey dot over a month later.

They said the item arrived broken but they were only after one part of the unit, so weren't fussed.

Until l kept sending feedback reminders (l didn't send any, eBay send them to buyers). The buyer said they were going to leave things as they were but since the reminders kept coming, he picked the easiest way to stop them.

Pfft.

Automate Buyer Feedback if Feedback is not Left

As a registered Seller I rely heavily on feedback to promote my profile and store, I don't have the luxury of receiving feedback for buying items like others.

My whole point is that as a SELLER ONLY, it is not easy to collect feedback. Most Sellers I know leave feedback for the buyers, so it stands to reason and probability that a seller will receive less feedback than a buyer..........................................

vetro, I can see why this is something you feel strongly about.  You have left 438 feedback but only received 295 in return.

Now, I am normally one to say "feedback is voluntary, don't worry about it", but that is because I am happy with the levels of returned feedback I have received.  But yours is running at around 67% which is somewhat surprising.  As a buyer and seller, I feel for you.

Wow, you know more than I do (I'm not kidding) this is what I am trying to get at, though I may not have worded the original post in the best context I know...........sorry for that guys.

It may be something that I am doing or not doing but with no communication regarding any item issues from buyers I don't know?

I mentioned this before but, As a buyer in the past I have waited too long to leave feedback and when I go to leave feedback the item has disappeared so I am no longer able to leave +FB for the buyer.

maybe 'gamers' are just averse to leaving feedback.  Time probably gets away from them once they start playing games, and and when they finally stop to take a leak, 60 days has passed and they are not able to leave feedback!   😛

I am also a seller only on my main selling ID. And occasionally somebody does not leave me FB.  Of-course, I would also love to get glowing FB for every transaction, but no FB is my second most favorite 🙂 .  Definitely no FB is preferable to positive with comment something like 'it's OK" , or "no hassle" or something else suggestive of the buyer not having anything nice to say about the item or the transaction.  Once you get enough positives, say over 100, the number becomes quite irrelevant.

By the way, what sort of automatic "positive" comment would you want eBay to give you?  In any case once the FB is issued by eBay and not the buyer it becomes totally meaningless.

To be honest with you - and this is not intended as criticism in any way - but if I had to guess, I'd say it has more to do with the type of item you sell than anything else. Video games don't strike me as the kind of item where buyers are looking for / needing a personalised service, and while you have a lot of eBay members who will leave FB for every transaction no matter what it is they buy, I think there are some categories where buyers are less mindful of - or place less value on - leaving FB for a selller, particularly positives.

If you think about it in terms of say visiting a normal shop where they have feedback slips you can fill out - what kind of things motivate people to actually go to the effort of doing so when it's much simpler, and faster, to get what you want and leave... (The two things being exceptional customer service and poor customer service, with - I'm guessing - fewer people filling one out for great customer service; they're more likely to just tell a few people about it or post on social networks, i.e. mediums that are still grabbing attention because they're interactive and they'll get a response, which is more gratifying that eBay's static FB system IYKWIM).

I don't mean to suggest you're not offering service good enough to deserve feedback, I'm just trying to point out the (possible) mindset behind people not even thinking it's worth coming back to post a FB comment.

For a comparison, on my main ID I sell handmade items, quite a few are custom made, so there's often a little interaction between the buyer and myself before and after purchase; even if not, I send every buyer a message with some key information they don't get from eBay's automated messages (this is just the way I like to do things, and I know it's not always possible or appropriate for other sellers), and even then I'm at about 80% FB returned (that's calculated over a few years, and I know for certain the percentage would be lower if based on the last 12 or 6 months - it does seem buyers are increasingly disinterested in leaving FB no matter what you sell).

This is all just opinion, anyway.
