Checked my Account a few days back - about $25 in fees for the current billing month. Checked it a few minutes ago - it's jumped up to $175!
The only items listed in the last week have been a whole bunch of items which expired and auto-relisted - I ticked the check-box at the time of the initial listing which said "Automatically list up to three times - it's free to relist". Yet I've been charged an Insertion Fee for all the items that auto-relisted.
What am I missing?

I am very wary of promotions/offers of free listings above the 40 free ones. I have always wondered if the insertion fee only applies to the original listing and then when it rolls over or gets relisted you pay the insertion fees on the new listing. I couldn't find anything to say that relistings will still be free so I have steered clear, as I seem to remember way back someone complaining they got caught by assuming they would continue to be free only to find out otherwise.

OK, so just got off the 'phone with an eBay Customer Serice rep...
He said that the three free relistings are in place, but that these items had auto-relisted for a fourth time, and that isn't free. Not understanding that at all - I thought that ticking the "Automatically relist up to three times" box meant that those three auto-relistings would be free, and that the items would expire at the end of the last free-relisting - not relist a foutrth time at my expense.
However, he's wiping the charges on the 82 items in question, so I'm happy enough with that.
But, definitely something to bear in mind - I've been selling items in this manner for the last couple of years, and have never been charged for an auto-relist before.

Did you definately list these as 30 day BINS or good till cancelled ?
The good till cancelled means they keep relisting until sold. It can be a bit of a trap as ebay sometimes helpfully check the good till cancelled box for you and you sometimes need to uncheck it and go back to 30 day listings. I have been caught with that little trick a few times.

I think if you don't have a store, then GTC is not an option.

A couple of times I have noticed when ticking the relisting box, it has said FOUR times! Not very often, but I've definitely seen it.Must take a screenshot next time I see it.
As for the excuse by the CS, that the 4th relist isn't free - well why did they relist for a 4th time anyway? But good news that the charges were wiped.

I think you are being a bit paranooid. When you create a listing, you have to specifically tick a box for the free relists, assuming it is actually there, no matter what the promotion. Of course, there are times it isn't there during the initial listing, but usually pops up at some later stage and you can then edit the listing.

My sentiments exactly! I'd never had a problem up until November of last year - since then, I've copped a huge invoice each month. One was my own fault (relisted unsold items manually, and got changed an insertion fee), but I reckon I got taken on the December invoice as well.

I just manually relisted 8 items.....5 had no Insertion Fee and 3 have had the $1.65 Insertion Fee added. Don't understand this at all

Where have you been hiding? GTC has been available to non-stores for quite a while now, probably as much as 18 months or more.
