Bad seller not fair.

Hello please advise me where to go on this. I have purchased 4 coins from a seller on Saturday.  I got them reasonably priced not cheap not expensive, they were bought as silver scrap as there not in very good condition.  He had 4 all seperate auctions and they went for just under $2 each bare in mind there worth max $4 ea for there silver content.  He had each one at $4 postage each so I just assumed he would combine like all small item sellers genrally offer. Well I had a feeling something was wrong straight away as I had to send several emails to get a response , well I got one today after again sending 2 more emails.

Now this is simply not right 4 coins the size of 10 cent pieces that cost less $7 and he wants to charge me $16 postage $4 ea. really is this allowed that is just not right.  I mean all up there only worth$16 . Consider most other sellers charge between $0.60 - $1.50 for the same service.  Now I will pay just to leave 4 red dots as that is not on and should be stamped out. Sorry for venting but its just not fair. Thanks.

If you have any questions about postage, please contact the seller before you bid on or buy the item.

Surely you knew that.

Seller does not deserve a red dot because you failed to ask questions.

He has even offered to cancel the transaction what more should he do?

Cave into your demands and threats?

Not very fair.

I have done nothing wrong and it is my right.

You have done everything wrong and by coming to the boards have radically reduced the number of sellers who will allow you to bid on their items.

If combined postage DISCOUNTS aren't mentioned then you have no right to expect them. As you have admitted combined postage wasn't even mentioned, much less discounts (they are separate things), you have no right to expect it. Your assumptions are irrelevant. The time to ask questions is BEFORE you buy, not after.

If you are only after the coins for the scrap value, then I won't comment about my opinion of people who want to buy rare collectibles so they can destroy them for their scrap value.

emalith :-

I am always happy to combine shipping if a customer asks for it. I find quite a few people just pay.. and do not ask.. puzzles me. I always send individually and do not combine (if customer has not requested that).

Whenever I bid I take in all the costs.

Even if last minute.. you take a gamble....  you must be happy with the price you bid and the shipping costs and any other costs listed.

Just reality.

wow what a nice attitude you have.

you come on forums ask a question then give attitude because you don't get the answer you want.

1st not everybody sits in front of the computer 24/7 ( you stated you sent a few emails and got an answer today one email would have been enough and give seller time to respond.

2nd you failed to ask questions before bidding ( where is that sellers fault)

now you have clearly stated your intent to give 4 negitives to seller because why you presumed something that was not.

i do agree on one part that 90% of seller do offer combine postage and those sellers clearly state that in there listings.

you should man up admit you failed to ask questions and presumed what was not.

take the offer and cancel the sale if your not happy but to state you would rather go though with sale just so you can tarnish a sellers feedback with really your the only one at fault is totally wrong and i do hope you do see this and do the right thing instead of the wrong thing out of spite.

You fail to see why because you havent read all the comments , there was only minutes left in the auction and it has taken him 3 days to return said email asking for combined shipping what is exactly you would like the buyers to do in said circumstances.

And WHY should anyone have to ask anything like that in the first place there 4 little shillings I just had 10 TWO shilling coins shipped for FREE there twice the size. And 16  50cent pieces shipped for $2.50 yet some how you think its OK to charge 4 consecutive $4  postage payments for tiny shillings he is going to combine anyway. He is already charging more than double what it cost to send them, The cost to send all 4 is under $1 now you work it out. now I realise there is his service fee to drop a letter into a post box but really come on think about it its extorsion at best.

Dont matter anyway sorted I won and he still gets 4 R dots.

These are basal variety a lump of metal which once represented a coin.
Extremely poor condition with no face or collector value what so ever, In fact 90 percent of all coins are nothing more than scrap metal, Take a look on ebay under pre decimal and see the kilos and kilos of silver coins being auctioned for SCRAP why because there worth only that. If it is not a rare coin it is NOT collectable nor is it rare.
They are simply traded for there silver value only .
Now a RARE valuable collectable coin would be something like a 1930 Aust one penny cost of around $50,000 for one in mint condition or $1000 for average to poor the most sort after and most valuable penny in the world. Or maybe a 1923 half penny cost 20,000+ in mint condition, Or the lesser but still collectable a 1932 florin . These are rare collectables not a piece of worn out silver made in there millions where UNC units are still available. UNC is for uncirculated the only coin a real collector is interested in.
