Based in Australia, Shipped from China?

Hello,

After purchasing quite a few things from "Australian" sellers recently through eBay, I have noticed that the packages are being sent from China.

How come these sellers are allowed to say their listings are from Australia when the packages come from China? It's obviously a deliberate misconception created to lure more buyers in.

People think they are buying from an Australian dealer when really they are purchasing another poor quality Chinese item.

Is this allowed? If so, why ?

have over 860 items posted to me ,  have never had an item late that is actually posted from AU

I have been finding exactly that. I make it a point to try and buy locally only to find it's coming from China and taking ages. It has happened for the last 3-4 items I have purchased. I wish there was a way to tell.

Its happening due to Ebay collecting GST on overseas items

if you sell from China the items attract GST so people are buying locally at a good price rather than buying from overseas with GST added onto the price,

so overseas sellers are appearing to be in Aus but are trading out of other locations around the world. Its a way of getting around the GST so they sell more.

AND more importantly ebay dont give a damn. I have reported several sellers whos location shows Sydney Australia and the item came from china (took in excess of two weeks) and they have done nothing. Those sellers are still selling , those sellers are still showing location to be Sydney Australia.

  The post you have replied to has nothing to do with the implementation of the GST. 

GST has only been added to overseas parcels since July 2018 and davewil's post was made in 2017.

Please read the dates on posts before jumping in and replaying with incorrect information.

All chineese business's, products and any affiliation with China should be banned from Australia. Im one of the real people and everything chineese is of poor quality and **bleep**py! They have been ruining this country since idiots started outsourcing work and production to China. Eveyone hates them. eBay.com.au is so **bleep**ty because everyhing is china made and sourced. Start shopping at eBay.com instead. Or souce local or international products with assurances that they have nothing to do with China or being made in china.
