Based in Australia, Shipped from China?

Hello,

After purchasing quite a few things from "Australian" sellers recently through eBay, I have noticed that the packages are being sent from China.

How come these sellers are allowed to say their listings are from Australia when the packages come from China? It's obviously a deliberate misconception created to lure more buyers in.

People think they are buying from an Australian dealer when really they are purchasing another poor quality Chinese item.

Is this allowed? If so, why ?

I think we're all guilty of not checking the date on a post at some point.....especially when it turns up bright blue amongst all the read ones. I think I fell for it twice, then got all embarrassed like when I found out!!

I am also an importer of the goods I sell. I go to a lot of trouble to find the best quality possible, and I keep them in stock here in Australia. It annoys the hell out of me when some other sellers work their way around the system and misrepresent their products.

It makes buyers very wary of all sellers, which is not good for the sellers doing the right thing.

Why don't you go back in time 2 years and ask him, because that's when the comment was made?

Sounds to me like he was showing that some people who reside in Aus but ship from China are upfront and honest about it. Good for him I say.

Reporting these liars will do nothing, I suspect that eBay possibly allows this scam to continue because it is financially beneficial to eBay, regardless of the angst that us buyers feel

Who said things to/from Alaska would not be as quick as New Zealand.

In the last month (pre christmas rush) I have sent/recieved items (small parcels approx 250 to 500 gms) from/to:

Alaska (no joke) 8 days (to a very remote town "Nome")

New Zealand 8 days

Finland 8 days

Hong Kong 3 days (the plannets must have aligned in that week)

USA various "48 states" averaging 6-8 days

Canada 10 days

Northern Ireland 10 days

And shipping (standard air mail for all items) has been 10 days or less (total days not working days).

I ordered a large item from Hong Kong via "free snail mail" still less than 20 days.

If I know I am dealing with China (usually via HK) and know it is a genuine quality item at a excellent price (experience counts here) and the shipping is free I am more than happy for it to take a month.

If I think someone is a "drop shipper" I will do some research and deal with someone who has the item no matter where they are.

I still come unstuck sometimes (yesterday thought I was buying in Australia) but obviously a drop shipper as they sent me a message saying they are out of stock (yet showing 10 items on eBay available). Cancelled order (hold my breath waiting for return of money)

Put down to lesson learnt and will not deal with them again.

If I purchase an item and pay extra because it's supposed to be shipped from Australia so I get it sooner and it is shipped from China. I start a paypal dispute saying item never received as soon as the due by date passes.

These lying, dishonest sellers never register the parcels so there is no way for them to prove you haven't received the item. Stuff them I say. If they're going to lie about the shipping location so they can charge more, and I pay extra so I can get it sooner, then I'm going to lie about receiving the item if it's shipped from China and make them loose money. They may eventually get the message and stop trying to rip people off.

Ebay really need to do something about this as I'm over it!!!!
