Hi,
We have just read the changes that are coming in September 2012 regarding Basic Store Subscriptions (rising from $24.95 to $49.95)
Our sales on ebay have reduced so much over the last year or so that doubling our store subscription really isn't an option (most of our sales come though our website). My question is, if we close our store and take advantage of the 30 free listings per month, will we have to relist the stock we have in there now? Or will it appear in our Unsold folder and we can just relist it from there? Also, is there anything we'll miss out on by not having a store other than Good Till Cancelled listings?
Any help would be appreciated.

Most of the old timers here know what will happen koala....absolutely nothing.
Quite a few of us, both sellers and buyers, took ourselves elsewhere when the last big upheaval happened on ebay....and the one before that...and the one before that.
There were predictions of the end of ebay, no more buyers, no more sellers.....much what you are seeing now.
I think I am quite safe in saying that when the outrage has settled down everything will be as it is now....low priced listing elsewhere but no buyers, higher priced listings on ebay and buyers to make things tick along as they are now.

Yeh I know Lyndal, but I am just in the mood to make some trouble tonight!..... I get sick and tired of the little guy always bowing down to the big guy, and honestly, this is eBay FGS, it is an onsite auction, WITHOUT US - the buyers and sellers - they would not survive!!. Get real, do we honestly give a rats about whether or not we are doing the right thing? If I say the wrong thing, or mention a 'taboo'ubject, they will 'slap me' - jeez people, get a life, EBAY IS NOTHING WEITHOUT US!

These threads and posts gladden my heart. Buyers don't care if ebay hike their fee up by under six bucks a week (if they do know then they probably know that other fees were lowered and functionality increased recently) so for every one of the sellers who jump ship that means there will be more buywrs for me when my store re opens in November.
Keep it up all of you...........please!

Wow. It gladdens your heart that sellers are worried about the price hike, and some have felt the need to shut their stores?
Rubbing your hands together with glee over the prospect of more customers for you, at the expense of other people's livelihoods, is so incredibly selfish that i find it hard to fathom.

I agree with you lynny, what pj just said is very disapointing to the little store holders who are really feeling the price hike, it SADDENS my heart that some ebayers rely on the little bit of extra money they get each month & that ebay is taking that away.

I think it was meant to be tongue-in-cheek, but I could be wrong...

REALLY!!! SUCH SYMPATHY FOR FELLOW SELLERS!!! WELL KARMA HAS A WAY OF CATCHING UP WITH PEOPLE. WHEN YOU FINALLY RE-OPEN YOUR STORE IN NOVEMBER, WHO KNOWS WHAT OTHER CHANGES EBAY MAY BRING IN, UNLESS OF COURSE YOU CAN COMPETE WITH THE HUGE COMPANIES WHO ARE OVERTAKING EBAY.
COME NOVEMBER EBAY MAY AGAIN DECIDE TO RAISE THEIR MONTHLY STORE FEE, YOU CAN NEVER TELL WITH EBAY. AS THEY HAVE PROVEN, THEY DO WHAT THEY WANT WHEN THEY WANT, THEY MAKE THE RULES AND THEN CHANGE THEM AT WILL.
IF ALL THE SO-CALLED HOBBY SELLERS ARE GONE, THEN WHO DOES THAT LEAVE?? WHAT'S TO STOP EBAY FROM THEN RAISING THEIR FEES TO SAY $200, $300 OR MORE A MONTH? TO THESE BIG SELLERS, THAT IS JUST A DROP IN THE HAT.
WILL YOU STILL BE LAUGHING AND RUBBING YOUR HANDS TOGETHER IF THE FEES GO UP AGAIN.
LET ME GUESS, YOU HAVE A MASTER PLAN WHICH CAN COPE WITH WHATEVER FEE INCREASE EBAY CAN AND WILL THROW AT YOU. IF THATS THE CASE, GOOD LUCK TO YOU.
BUT PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE LET US KNOW WHAT YOUR SHOP WILL BE CALLED, SO WE MAY KNOW TO AVOID IT.
I DONT USUALLY VENT ON THESE FORUMS, BUT YOUR BLATANT GLEE AT OTHERS MISFORTUNES IS REALLY ANNOYING.

Did everyone who is complaining join eBay and think as it got bigger and bigger and became a super brand they wouldn't have to pay more for the privilege of using the exposure their advertising brand brings?
Does nobody understand that business is becoming better than the competition and sending the underperformers broke?
If people can't factor in price rises and costs into their business plan then they should go broke as all they are doing is holding the market up.
Ethical sellers then can afford to increase business and service, so this price rise I see as a good thing from a buyer’s point of view.
Lynny, many many wonderful and nice people go bankrupt every day. If you want to have a nice, warm fuzzy feeling join a charity but don't expect the market to care about the people who are struggling. Only an idiot would go out and pay a higher price for something just so a seller can make more profit and stay in business.
Therefore, I say it is you who is selfish if you have ever bought a bargain, haggled over something or paid below retail price.
