Be very careful using ebay postage labels

So more problems with the 'you beaut' ebay postage labels. I used one last night for a book I sold (different ID). Printed it off and put it on the package. I have lodged it at the PO and it has been scanned in.

Now, later. I have discovered that I've been charged for 2 labels, both with different tracking numbers. 😠

I stress: I downloaded 1 label. I printed 1 label. I attached 1 label to the package.

Needless to say I have submitted a cancelation request for the other one, but I'm at a total loss to understand how this could have happened in the first place.  And of course I have to wait to get my $ back. I guess it's just another reason not to use their labels, even if it's financially worth it sometimes.

Just posting as a warning to everyone who uses them to double check how much you're being charged and to ask if this has happened to anyone else.

Re: Be very careful using ebay postage labels

Hi there PNC

You don't have to download or print a label to be charged, the charge is applied when a label is merely generated electronically .  As you have 2 tracking numbers, that would indicate that the label was actually generated twice,  possibly  a 2nd label generated while waiting for the first to be completed.

Anyway, make sure you cancel the right label, it will then take about 60days for AP to confirm the label is not used, and ebay will then process a refund.

Re: Be very careful using ebay postage labels

Thanks, GP. Yes that's about what I was expecting, despite ebay telling me it would take a maximum of 15 days. They have no clue 😞

Btw, to my knowledge, I only clicked once on 'get a postage label'. I am always very measured when I go through that process.  So either a glitch, or I somehow managed to do it despite me best efforts.

Anyway the cancellation process is underway, so hopefully it will eventually be resolved.

Re: Be very careful using ebay postage labels

I got caught like this also.  There are two ways to select a label, one where the size etc comes up first, then you buy the label.  The other is a button called "get label" and as soon as you click that you have bought the label.

Now I am aware of this, I don't see a problem in the future.

Re: Be very careful using ebay postage labels

Same thing happened to me. I know I didn't click twice. Same item two postage labels with different tracking numbers. Only one came up to print. I had to make sure that I canceled the right one that I didn't use. I'm going back to Post Office labels. I will be joining the free pro plan, not the free selling as I don't want my buyers to get hit with fees, especially as they won't know the actual extra cost on an auction price till they win.

Thanks Dorran. I'm please to know I'm not the only person it has happened to.
