Best time to finish an Auction

Lots of my buyers buy at lunchtime..............and I still list auctions because it is so much easier to 'combine postage'

It can depend on what you sell, and when your buyers are likely to be online.

You also have to consider the different time zones, especially when some states have daylight saving.

Having said that, we generally list our auctions between 7.30pm & 9pm (NSW time).

We find that Saturday night is generally the worst night (and many of our buyers are elderly, so definitely not out clubbing), and Friday night isn't much better.

Sunday and Monday nights seem to be the best, although sometimes Wednesday is also good.

Although there's not always much activity with auctions, we find that sometimes they double or even treble in value (we start them at the minimum price we're prepared to accept), and we do have a few buyers who prefer auctions.

It also gives us a bit of excitement at times, so we generally have a couple of hundred going at any time, along with 2000+ BIN items.

Thanks Dom, your post is a great example of the ignorance of some people in assuming one size fits all on ebay.

My largest market is middle aged blokes who actually do stuff rather than sitting behind a desk working for some-one else. Many are self employed, running their own businesses or have made enough money to retire early and dont have to answer to a boss.

I also have quite a few business clients ( again people that actually do stuff, not pen pushers ) who are buying for their work .

They will incorporate bidding on ebay while they are fresh and out and about mid morning, but may not want to be bothered with ebay in the evenings.

Like everything on ebay. You have to find what works best for you and ignore "advice" from some of the regular know it all knockers frequenting the boards who often have very little experience as ebay sellers.
