Blocked Buyer List, Why add some-one ?

Theres been some robust discussion lately on other threads about adding buyers to your BBL. I only have around a dozen on mine. Theres the two total fruit loops who sent me very long messages about ebay being a zionist plot to get all of our bank details and on such & such a date, the jews would take all of our money ( or something similar ) , Theres the three idiot non payers who promptly bid on the relisted item after I had already gone through the non payment dispute process with them. Theres the postage pirate seller who tried to charge me $65 postage for $21.05 actual cost. ( I had to break this guys Ebay kneecaps........ hypothetically speaking of course !!! )  and a handfull of the occasional rude, arrogant, ignorant buyers who  you are never going to please. ( the queen talked about them a few years ago in her annual speech, "anus horribalis" ) or pains in the A#S as I call them. Of course theres also a few of the regular posters on these forums (   JUUUUUST KIDDING FOLKS !!!!!   ) . In the words of the literary legend, sporting giant and noted philosopher Jeff Fenich I LOUUUVES YOUUUSSS ALL  !!!   Anyway what is it that gets under your skin so much that you will devote three minutes of your life that you will never get back, to add some-one to your BBL.

Re: Blocked Buyer List, Why add some-one ?

OK

I have noone on my BBL.

But...I can see where the three minutes adding someone might just save many, many more minutes down the track.

Such as:

A repeat non-payer (after giving them a chance or two)

An abusive person, where their emails or other communication have been nasty, personally, towards you

Someone who has lied about their circumstances to get a better price i.e. a sob story scammer, and you find out it was a lie

Someone who buys, uses the item, then returns it saying there was a problem with it when they wanted, essentially, to borrow it for free...

That was three minutes thinking of those reasons 🙂

I hope they help someone out there make a decision about their BBL.

Re: Blocked Buyer List, Why add some-one ?

All non-payers. First time.

Those on the boards who personally attack me and/or out my other IDs.

Those who advocate buying from sellers they have issues with in order to leave negative feedback.

Those on the boards who do not wish to have questions answered and attack anybody who they don't agree with.

I have far more than 12 on my list, but I have only added NPBs recently.

And it only takes about 30 seconds, so I can do 6 in the time it takes you to do one.

Re: Blocked Buyer List, Why add some-one ?

I would do it for any of the reasons you outlined above. LOL.

Also if we raise/close a UID case we add them to our list just in case they don't have 2 strikes yet. Just to make sure they cannot bother us again. We had one buyer who bought and never paid or communicated. So we raised/closed a UID case. The very next day after case closed she bought the same item again and it too ended up in a case exactly the same. Very odd behaviour.

I always take a peek at a buyer's Feedback Left for Others.

If I see a string of NEGs and NEUT's for what looks like trivial reasons I will add them. Firstly I feel nervous that perhaps they will leave us a NEG just becasue they can because they have laready just bought, but just feel comfortable knowing they won't get another chance to jerk us around.

Or we often see a POS given but with a kinda Negative comment. Something like "Not quite the colour I was expecting but love it anyway, so all good". We will add them.

If we get a claim of INR I will add them.

Since we use large letter we always just resend another item. But you always think they are scamming you so we add them just in case, especially if we can see a history of this in Feedback Left for others again. In this case we add a note to the FB we left for them to say that we replaced a lost item on date xyz. Just so other sellers can see they have done it before.

We also network with other sellers in our category and keep each other posted on troublesome buyers. So we will X-add to our lists based on that knowledge too. Most notably recently was a case of a chargeback where a couple of us got hit by the same buyer.

Thinks that's about it from us.

Re: Blocked Buyer List, Why add some-one ?

Sorry to say this folks, but I do block many posters from the boards as I use this ID for posting and selling (don't ever want to be accused of posting to advertise).  Some for the reasons Dave said, and others because I consider myself a casual seller and I just don't need any angst from my eBay selling activity, so when I see a post that reflects poorly on the poster they get added.

I also do get notified by some other posters of eBayers that are worthy of a BBL list . . . . . . and I trust the judgement of those members and duly add to my BBL.

If I am selling an item with Buy-It-Now with best offer and a member offers what I consider to be a stupid amount for my item I will decline without counteroffering and add them to my BBL.  It may cost me a sale or two, but I am only a casual seller who does eBay as a hobby.  I usually do not use the auto-decline feature as I like to see the offer and message on an offer and deal with each one individually.

Re: Blocked Buyer List, Why add some-one ?

I add:

All non-payers.

All late payers.

All that have non-payment comments in their feedback from other sellers.

All that habitually leave negs or neutrals for other sellers

Most that ask questions when the information is in the listing

Anyone else that bugs me for any reason, but not many buyers actually do bug me (outside of the groups above) - I like most of em Heart
