Why is it that a buyer will buyer an item, make no contact whatsoever, and then get mad when a non-payment dispute is open?
Honestly, sometimes sellers just can't win.
I added information in my "terms" stating I won't write to buyers after 4 days of non payment because a buyer knows they need to pay and because eBay remind them so that's sufficient notice before a dispute is opened, YET I still do send a quick message telling a buyer if they need more time, just let me know. Communication is key!
If I hear nothing, a dispute is opened.
Once it's opened, they usually pay but are then mad at me. I got my first neutral for "slow postage" recently, because my buyer was annoyed about a dispute being opened and I've had several buyers before and since really mad about me opening a dispute.
Buyers, please just COMMUNICATE with us. We don't know you need more time. We don't know your intentions. We don't know anything if you don't tell us.
What's worse, these buyers who don't let us know what's going on, have no problem using the eBay message system to show their opinions of us once a dispute is opened.
It's infuriating!

So, I have another one.
This new buyer is not a happy camper that I opened a dispute, despite writing to her asking if she needed more time, to which she didn't bother to reply to.
She claims, in my terms, I have it stated I allow 7 days to make payment. I've looked, and re-looked, and cannot see where she's got that information.
Would anyone mind having a look through my terms to see if I am missing something?

Arnl,
No I can not see anything about allowing 7 days to make payment. There is a 7 day return policy however. Maybe she mistook? Still no reason to take 7 days to pay.

That's what I could see too. Perhaps she did mix up the two.
Thanks for checking! 🙂

Firstly, start a new thread instead of bringing up one that is 18 months old :D. Secondly, next to your sold item, click on the drop down and select resolve a problem. That will take you to the resolution centre. Then select I have sold and item and the buyer hasn't paid and submit. Select no when the box pops up asking you if you want to turn the unpaid assistant on (you can click yes if you like, but find out how the unpaid assistant works first). The buyer will now receive an email stating that an unpaid dispute has been opened against them
In exactly 4 days time, if the buyer hasn't paid, go back into the resolution centre and close the case. That will give the buyer a strike against their name and will get you your fees back. If you go back to the resolution centre in 4 days to close and you don't have the option to tick no, the buyer hasn't paid, check the time at the top to tell you the earliest it can be closed. Then go back then and close it. If the buyer pays, the case will automatically close.
If the buyer happens to leave you bad feedback in that time, it should automatically remove when you close the case. If it doesn't, ring eBay to remove it.
Good luck!

It does get frustrating when people buy, but never pay.
I do a 10 day thing. If i haven't seen any money or contact by the 5th day -I resend the invoice. If still nothing on the 7th day - i ask them if they are having payment problems. if still nothing by the 9th day - i tell them that they will be reported the following day. Day 10 - I open a case against them. I think my 10 days gives them plenty of opportunities to contact me and pay. Most will pay before i get to day 10, but for the few that don't - well they get what they deserve. Its just a pity we sellers can't give them the feedback they most seriously deserve.
