Buyer has requested to hold off on posting an item until they return from holidays in 2.5 weeks.

Buyer has used Buy it Now to purchase an item. Upon sending ebay invoice I have recieved a reply from buyer indicating they arte happy to pay now but wish to have postage delayed until they return from holiday at the start of August. As all my sales require signed delivery reciept - I dont see any of this as a problem as AP would card the item to the nearest P.O.  My questions are;

1. How long would AP hold the item for after being carded?

2. Would accepting payment and NOT pposting immediately affect any of my DSR's?

3. Recommended succesful course of action from sellers whove experienced similar situations.

TIA!

Hello Australia Post will hold items for 2 weeks after being 'carded'. I have had exactly the same situation & did not have any problems. Technically it could affect your DSRs but if you keep the email requesting that postage be deferred I think that should cover you.

Ditto.

Never had a problem.

I would never trust AP to 100% card an item - let alone hold it for the required time.

Some of the smaller PO's will only hold mail for 10 days before returning to sender. If I was you I would wait until they return from hols.

I posted an answer in the Answer Centre.

But I wouldn't accept payment until they return. Then post.

That way the system sees immediate postage after payment.

Buyers are now asked to tick a box when leaving feedback whether the item arrived before a certain date, Yes or No.

This is the safest to cover yourself but also increases risk of buyer regret and not payng.

Personally I would take payment, then delay shipping as requested. Correspondance would back up any slow shipping DSR's. The yes / no question being asked is a trial only and currently does not cause a defect, that is still buyer opinon based star rating.

Wow PJ, I guess it depends on whether staff know you well, which helps.
