Cancel item vs Unpaid item

I know there is a few similar questions on this board, but coming from a different viewpoint.

I sold an item on eBay and have not received payment. I have sent an invoice, a follow up message, and an offer to cancel if they have changed their mind, but no response for over a week.

The winning bid was very low and I would rather keep the item than sell it.

What is the best way to cancel the sale without receiving bad feedback? I don't even care about paying sell fees, as they will be minimal.

Re: Cancel item vs Unpaid item

I leave feedback for non payers within what I believe are the policy boundaries set by eBay.

I also open and close non payment disputes for ALL non payers.

All my non payers receive a strike.

Re: Cancel item vs Unpaid item

now you lot have me concerned.

what is a defect for opening a cancellation of transaction...

what does the seller get when they open a cancellation of transaction say as a result of the buyer emailing and saying they don't want it? geez I did it last week...."my family benefit didn't come through, are you ok to wait for payment?".  I said I'll wait till ** if you think you can pay - they said no so I opened a cancellation.  should I have opened an NPB? - thats nasty...?

whats this defect harley is it low dashboard stars or something ...something we don't see as sellers? would I be better if optional to cancel a bidders bids but with less than 12 hrs to go...

Re: Cancel item vs Unpaid item

A defect is a cancellation that eBay consider is the seller's issue.

A defect is 3 stars or less on any star.

A defect is a neutral or less.

For further information refer to your dashboard. It was only notified about 2 months ago. And the notification is still available in 'Announcements', which as a seller you naturally monitor.

Allegedly you can see the transactions that result in defects, but that is not my experience.

Re: Cancel item vs Unpaid item

What happens if the case is closed and I add the buyer to my blocked bidder list.? Can that buyer leave negative feedback I wonder?I know I can always reply to negative feedback on the screen

Thanks in advance

Re: Cancel item vs Unpaid item

What I am amazed at is how often now people with zero feedback "buy" items and never pay for them. Happens at least twice a month, whether they are scammers or not something needs to be looked at in this area.

Was it necessary to drag up a nearly 4 year old thread to ask a question that has been asked and answered many times?

If you open an Unpaid Item dispute and it is closed with the buyer getting a strike then neither of you can leave feedback at all.

Adding the buyer to your blocked buyer list only ensures that they cannot buy from you again....it has nothing to do with leaving feedback at all.
