Cancelling overseas buyer purchase options.

I don't sell outside of Australia and all my listings clearly state that, unless of course you don't speak English which itself becomes the problem.

Occasionally I get the odd foreign buyer (yes I should change my settings) who ignores that and purchases anyway.

So it just happened then and I decided to cancel it immediately and followed the process and got this message:

If the buyer agrees to cancel the transaction, this case will be automatically closed and you will receive a Final Value Fee credit.
If the buyer declines to cancel the transaction, this case will be automatically closed and you will not receive a Final Value Fee credit.
If the buyer does not respond to the request, you can close this case after 7 days to receive a Final Value Fee credit.

Option 2 doesn't very seem fair to me.

Your thoughts?

Cancelling overseas buyer purchase options.

I seem to remember a poster on these boards saying they would only

do a cancellation if they had the buyer's death certificate.

Otherwise, it's UPI all the way

Block overseas buyers, then they can't purchase, regardless of whether they speak English or not.

Yes catch 22 situation if the buyer selects option 2 then they are committed to purchasing, problem is then if they dont pay, you can not open a Unpaid item dispute to recoup your fees, pretty unfair i agree, happened to us some time ago.

I think next time I will just ingnore it and allow an Unpaid Item Case to automatically open after 4 days.

The seller will be unable to pay so it will close in my favour.... or at least that's what has happened on previous occasions.

Only problem is after opening a UPI, if the buyer actually pays, then what ?

Ausbargain - I had one exactly like that - I opened an UPI, then at the last minute the buyer paid, so she could avoid a strike. However, she also messaged me to say that she had not realised that the item had gone through to the purchase stage as she did not want it and could I cancel it as she would just send it back to me if I posted it.

Because a UID had already been resolved, I could not cancel, but had to refund her through PP.

So I got to keep the item for another buyer, but was not able to get my FVF back.

The buyer can't pay as they don't have a shipping quote.
