Click & Collect - Anyone got invite for the delivering to woolies or big W

Hi All,

Did any one get an invite to join the click & collect option? If so whats the cost associated? Any ideas how it works for the seller?

Regards

Thalha

If a major seller in, for example, Wollongong city offers click & collect - would their items only be available to collect from Wollongong Woolies stores? That is, the Wgong based seller drops the items of themselves to selected local Woolies stores?

I can't see the Wgong seller posting items to Cairns or Perth, so a buyer can pick it up from their local Woolies?

Supposedly it is free am, but how often have we seen these grand ebay plans go pearshaped very quickly.

Everyone is concentrating on collecting from Woolworths....most supermarkets have extended hours so it should not be a problem picking up within 7 days.

In my area the pick up point is Big W which is only open till 6pm now.

I am wondering what happens to parcels not picked up within the 7 days....the buyer is not eintitled to a refund from ebay is they don't pick up and I doubt that paypal will cover them either if the parcel has been delivered to the address provided by the buyer.

This is going to get interesting!!!

I am assuming it would be an option for sellers to offer this.

Since deliveries are going to be to Woolies & Big W, eBay could have roped in another shipper other than AusPost or made a deal with Auspost to reduce the shipping cost so that the difference could be used to handle the operational costs for eBay

OR

Sellers who offer this services have to bear additional cost. In that case, lets hope it does not become mandatory for premium services

am*3 - To use the service buyers nominate as the delivery address their local Woolies or Big W store. Australia Post or the courier companies that sellers use then deliver the parcel to the store for the buyer to collect. Once it arrives at the store the buyer is sent a SMS with a code for their parcel.

It doesn't matter where the seller is based - if the buyer's local Woolies or BIG W store are a participant in the program the buyer can have the parcel delivered there.

The Woolworths group are obviously using it as a way to try and encourage buyers into their store.

You select from the list which one you want it delivered to. By the looks of it you select the store, before hitting the buy button.

Sheepie, you select the store based on which one has the item in stock although I can not quite understand what the significance of this is when the seller is sending the item to the store.

That was what came up when I purchased from The Good Guys and I was only able to select a store that showed that they had both the items in stock.  It appears that ebay is trying to make use of a system that is already in operation even if it is not really appropriate.
