Click & Collect - Anyone got invite for the delivering to woolies or big W

Hi All,

Did any one get an invite to join the click & collect option? If so whats the cost associated? Any ideas how it works for the seller?

Regards

Thalha

You're kidding, aren't you?

How many items does Woolworths sell on ebay  that the buyer could pick up for nothing?

The seller will still have to get the items to Woolworths and you can be sure that Woolworths are not going to be a defacto Australia Post facility for nothing.

I am guessing that this is going to cost the poor silly buyers an arm and a leg.

Click & Collect - Anyone got invite for the delivering to woolies or big W

This topic was brought up at Ozbargain 2 days ago by a member. The post was unfortunately taken down at the request of Woolworths.

From what I can remember from that post,  the official date is 28 Feb. You can collect the purchase either from Woolworths, Big W and even at Woolies petrol kiosk (??).

This was confirmed by a member who claimed to be working for Woolies. He said that big red cages have been installed in each store's backroom for this new service.

The main concern for members about using the service was how safe it was (someone suggested that packages could go missing e.g. stolen by employees). Another was concerned that if it can be collected at a petrol kiosk (the one he frequents is so small that it could only fit the counter and the one employee in it) that it would be sitting out in the hot sun/rain and also worried about theft.

I look forward to reading their terms & conditions with regards to this new service, especially with returns.

According to an article on Ina Seiners blog, it is about to be rolled out on a trial basis in Sydney and Tasmania, and the trial will only include 250 Ebay stores.  If it is successful, it will roll out across the Big W/Woollies network around the country.  There is a video onthe blog today, from last night's news story.  There was no mention of any additional charges for the service.  It will work similarly to Auspost's parcel locker service except that it is only Woollies and Big W store hours (not quite 24/7) and it will be a dedicated manned counter service.  You get a text message on your mobile when the parcel arrives in store and the attendant scans the barcode on the text message to verify you are authorised for pickup. Providing there is no cost to buyer or seller, I can't see it being a problem, in fact it might go some ay to avoiding the "I didn't get my parcel" situations.

Cheers,

Penny

I saw a report on TV last night talking about this... The ebay rep said it was aimed at small businesses that don't have a physical location for pick up.

Have been looking at annoucements etc. today, and this is all I've been able to find

As usual, the details are as clear as mud... Nice to know ebay are letting the customers know about this, but not the sellers ๐Ÿ˜•

I buy a few things from ezibuy  and they already offer this service, it is free for the buyer.

Of course I am too lazy to use it,  it means an hour drive to town when it is only $9.90 for an ezibuy parcel to be delivered to my door.   When you think convenience, petrol, parking etc, I wonder how many people will choose it.

Wouldn't you be collecting direct from the retailer, though? i.e. their profit is already made. I doubt Woolworths will provide the service without getting anything from it, and I suspect that the possibility of buyers picking up online purchases also grabbing some milk etc won't be enough for them.

But Woolworths owns Ezibuy so they are only providing a pick up service for their own brands.

Somehow I can't see them providing such a service for ebay without xpecting something in return.

Well, I've just seen one seller with the click and collect option, made a purchase from one of my favs (a rather large seller) and the option was there in the postage section under the Buy Now box.  No good to me though, when I clicked to select the store for pickup it just told me no store available near me (obviously because it is only selected Sydney and Tasmanian stores atm).

Cheers,

Penny

Have to clarify my own post - it is not available in Gympie, the nearest click and collect is Noosa or Nambour.   So even ezibuy is not available at all Big W/Woolies stores.

I can't seem to get the option to display on listings from sellers who are supposedly involved already, possiby due to my location (according to this article, "Initial sellers include Your Home Depot, No Frills, Surf Stitch, Mytopia, Futu Online and Golfbox.").

If any of those who can see this option had a spare moment, would you be able to check for any ? and/or 'learn more' type links or windows and relate any of the info that's provided, particularly if there's any special T&C's?
