Contacting Customer Service withou CHAT!

Can anyone give me the contact details for EBAY!   No not the chat option, the last 2 times have ended badly with me losing an hour and my patience.

What a nightmare this is..... last item I was charged 15% commission, having to relist every 3 weeks so  I am certainly not listing new items - because I don't have time and I don't feel like charging my poor customers more money because of the inflated commission.

Now it won't let me choose the postage bag that I want?  Meaning I have to go to Aust Post to Post.

Customer service absolutely dreadful after  you get rid of the Bott and finally get a Customer service person.

Seriously is anyone else not happy with any of this??

Re: Contacting Customer Service withou CHAT!

The only contact option for eBay is Chat.

I don't use eBay labels.

AP Labels through AP work for me.

Standard commission is 13.4% plus 30 or 33 cents, so that bit sounds about right.

If you list as Buy It Now they are good till cancelled, if you list as auctions you will need to relist.

No fees apply until an item is sold.

What exactly is your question?

Re: Contacting Customer Service withou CHAT!

There is no option except chat

Personally, I would rather factual, real world, based on polices replies that come from asking other members here, who have experience and knowledge of eBay as bother buyers and sellers rather than barely trained CS staff reading from scripts (who don't do any better when abused)

You're aware of the fees and agree to them when listing

The postage thing, there are literally around two dozen recent threads on the same thing already

Re: Contacting Customer Service withou CHAT!

If I have a problem I either come to these boards or go for an online chat.

When resorting to online chat, if I'm getting nowhere with an operative, I ask for a supervisor. At the end of the process I get a transcript. If whatever was promised doesn't work etc, I go back and quote the chat reference. I'd rather have evidence of their advice than try quoting what was said in a phone call.

By the way, I have no problem with the not quite 15% ebay fees. When selling new items (on another account) I make sure I have taken account of the fees in my prices.

Ebay's fees are quite reasonable considering it is a worldwide business and needs to deal with multiple countries with different laws etc.

Re: Contacting Customer Service withou CHAT!

Thank you for replying.  The commission was previously 12% and listing is free?

I have been using AP but it is so much easier to use Ebay because  its automatic?  Simply will not allow me to choose the size bag I want now (previously it did)

Ebay seriously seems all to hard now and the commissions are way out of control.

Re: Contacting Customer Service withou CHAT!

Thank you for your reply.  I have always agreed to the terms but they seem to have changed now and it is getting out of control.

I used to be able to relist every 8 weeks and now its 3 weeks and it simply takes  me too long to relist all my items every 3 weeks.

Re: Contacting Customer Service withou CHAT!

Thank you for replying.

I do feel that the fees are getting out of control and I choose not to sell overseas for many reasons.

I tried to get a supervisor on the chat but again I simply don't have time to sit there and play games with people that just go round and round in circles.

I'll limit my listings in the future and use other options where I can.

Re: Contacting Customer Service withou CHAT!

Behind every listing on eBay, there is a seller who has had to negotiate the same very problems you mention.

For example, I don't have to relist anything as I have an eBay store & list everything Good Til Cancelled. This may be the solution to this problem for you (you would have to weigh up costs vs benefits as we've all had to do).

I keep a good supply of AP satchels etc at hand (and get 5% off if I purchase 10 or more). For me. with regular postage, the Aust Post band discount system (based on parcel volumes)  gives me higher discounts than purchasing postage via eBay (again this may or may not be the best option for you and you would have to do your sums/research).

When fees go up, so do my prices. My customers will either buy or they won't. I can keep eroding my profits to satisfy my customers. At the end of the day I'm running a business, not a charity.

I can't see what good speaking to eBay about their straightforward and clearly defined fees & policies would do. I don't think I've contacted anyone at eBay for over 10 years. Most sellers have learnt from experience that it is mostly as waste of time.

As is often mentioned on these boards - no-one is forcing you to sell on eBay & their are numerous other options available. These will have their own sets of problems. I think most sellers would agree that selling on eBay with all of its complexities isn't easy. It requires some effort and business acumen to navigate and work out how to make it work for you. I'm sure that many have decided it is all too hard & have left the site.

Good luck with your selling!

Re: Contacting Customer Service withou CHAT!

Thank you for your reply.  I have been selling on Ebay for sometime but it is just now that I have to relist every 3 weeks, not 8 and the commission has increased.  I wanted to get answers from Ebay as to why this has happened as they still state that relist is up to 8 weeks.  All good I am starting to sell on other platforms that don't charge commission and I can then pass the savings on to my customers and I am not charged commission on postage either.  I will look at other options on  Ebay when  I have time.
