Dear Ebay- 33% of my last sale for a whole $10. You do have to be joking by thinking adding in the cost of postage to your site will keep small sellers like myself bothering to write decent ads, maintain a good standard for your site in honesty in listings, honesty in everything really.
Item sold for $10- it is a book I no longer really require, it has a worth to someone out there, the postage cost in 3kilo bag from Australia post was 13.40.
I added $1 to cover bubble wrap, selotape and 10 days of time waiting for my listing to end...
Not much sells- but I use the FREE listings, only.
Ebay - fees are sitting at 2.42 - just for that one item, paypal then took 89c of the 24.40 deposit into paypal, lets imagine I withdraw that from paypal to pay for the bag at the PO - then I will lose $1.50 for withdraw a sum less than $150...
I am scratching my head as to why I even bother, and you have the hide to still list me as a power seller....
Us little people are worth nothing to you it seems, and I cannot imagine what you are taking in fees from bigger sellers.

should I?
yeah, why not.
A few years ago, eBay recommended that members create a separate account for use when posting on the discussion boards. So different accounts for trading and posting.
Many members embraced and put this advice into practise.
Consequently, for many of us, just because our feedback scores may appear to be quite low, that number is not always a true indication of a members expertise, experience and knowledge.
Furthermore, before ebay became generous with so many extra free listing offers, many members had several accounts in order to utilize the 40 available free listings. I am aware that many store holders still do this in order to gain access to auction listings.
In summary, quite often, the account that a person is posting with is not their only one, nor is it necessarily the one that reflects their true eBay activities.

This is a reminder to respond to each other in a civil & respectful manner.
Thanks!

So why did my response stating what ebay actually costs me as seller get removed? I was civil.

My apologies if I sounded curt there. Fact of matter is that the simple calculations carried out by davewil1964 were not correct. His first assumption that I calculated $60 on $350 is wrong to start with. Moreover, the dear member forgot to factor in store/listing fees and the number of months the item is expected to stay on market before it is sold.
So all in all, I have a spreadsheet here that I have developed over the last few years, is very uptodate, and takes care of every trick ebay can throw at me. So some experience needs to be gained before trying to tick others off, if ever.
Cheers

I was civil
You were also complaining about ebay and giving untrue information to boot. Posting anti ebay remarks is actually not allowed and is completely counter productive for a seller as buyers too read th selling board and posts which complain about ebay do not inspire confidence in ebay and its sellers.

The dear member used the figures you posted.

And people wonder why the mods come in and zap them.
The 2 members you are attacking are very experienced sellers and are both a wealth of information. I personally value their opinions and input and have learned a heck of a lot from them. I would be very careful how you speak to people. You have posted exactly 22 messages to these forums, maybe you should read up on the rules and regulations before you go off half c0cked about people and things you have no idea about.
