Do I have to accept paypal for pickup items?

I am currently selling some items of furniture.  People keep "buy it now" and then pay via paypal.

I have asked to refund their money and to pay in cash, and they are ok with this.

Do I have to accept paypal for pickup?

What if they pickup and do a refund themselves?  How do I prove they have the item?

I have searched ebay help and found no answer other than there is no seller protection for pickup on paypal!

Do I have to accept paypal for pickup items?

Example below of a paypal dispute on a local pick up item. The seller has not only lost their 1005 feedback but has had to

spend hours working (for free) on a monotomous bullsheet situation

The OP's last post

wow, think I wont be returning to these boards.

I am an honest seller and buyer as is reflected in my feedback.

I have been stuffed around quite a bit by pick up only items lately, where people either don't read the listing properly or ignore it and then hassle me later to change my terms.

Every time I try to be flexible and have copped abuse, non payers, also copped a neutral for bending over backwards for a buyer who didn't read the terms of sale properly.

Being a reasonable person, I just copped it and relisted the item (triton work bench which is not the item in question).

I think I am within my rights to say, you bid, you won so you are obliged to pick it up according to the terms listed on the item.

Thanks to those who were helpful and offered constructive advice. The matter has been resolved and the buyer will be arranging collection next week.

They only lost their 100% feedback briefly, they managed to get the neg and defects removed. The rest is true though, they did spend hours working to get it all sorted, which they shouldn't have had to do. Once a seller responds that the item was pick up only, any disputes should be automatically closed. It's ridiculous that sellers have to go through all that when it's clearly stated in PayPal's terms that pick up items have no protection.

funny ebay says you have to offer paypal for pick ups.  I rang paypal and they warned me NEVER to accept paypal for pickups as there is no track no or proof they received the item.  This site is a laugh they are owned by the same company and cant agree on their rules.  NO i would never accept paycrap for pick ups, i would refund and if you got a neg well thats ebay for you.  Feedback means nothing on here anymore.

I dont sell on here anymore nor do alot of friends.  we sell on gumtree or a page on facebook which sells heaps more than here and no fees and no unfair paycrap charge backs.  There is plenty of local area facebook pages you can advertise furniture ive sold alot that way and normally sells within the hour.

Yes, negs and neutral feedback do mean something now.  - defects given for either of those. Too many defects affects seller's performance standards which can result in account restrictions to permanent bans.
