Dodgy buyer or dodgy AU post staff?

Just warning for Ebay AU community. Lately I have sold designer made genuine sunglasses (for over $200) and on receival of the package I was told by the buyer that glass is broken and one arm is missing (these were rimless so if you broke off the arm it snapped piece of glass but rest remained intact). Now I am refunding money but who's done it?-  Buyer who needed just one arm for his designer sunnies or some dodgy AU post staff who snapped off one arm just for fun??

Be aware (not that we can do too much about it as ebay is all about trust...)

Cheers

L

Re: Dodgy buyer or dodgy AU post staff?

maybe you need to rethink the way you package them.

obviously you sent registered and insured post (for over $200) so did you ask your buyer to take them and all the packing to the PO for a claim.  if the PO found your packing was adequate and the prob was with the delivery your buyer could possibly get a refund..

Unfortunately there is always a chance that an item may be damaged in the post, especially something llike glasses. I personally would not blame the buyer or AP - get the buyer to send a photo of the damage and the packaging they received the glasses in, there is no other way to see if it was caused during transit without viewing the  item. If the packaging is damaged you may be able to claim from AP

For the $20 Standard Postage that you charged I would expect them to be VERY well wrapped and double boxed.

Doesn't make a lot of sense , but if your not sure either way have you actually asked the buyer for a photo to show the damage ?

If the arm was 'missing' then the packaging must have been openend ?

Not sure why you need a Poll

If the glasses arrived broken then it is your fault for not packing properly.  Unless AP staff dropped the parcel and truck ran over it, the responsibility is yours.

Don't do anything before you either receive the sunnies back in the post or receive a photo from the buyer. And make sure the photo is of Your sunnies, not some old broken pair they might have already had.

Mind you supernova - AP do say that you need to package an item so it can withstand a 20kg weight dropped on it from waist height - mind you AP can't seem to advise how we can do that, (short of finding some light weight titanium coated protection - maybe use the 'force' , what a joke
