Oh! If I get hold of an Ai-Kakiemon bowl, I would love to see your translation of the Japanese mark... but I may have to go for a more brightly coloured piece of ware instead.

Yes googling Japanese cartoon characters was my first strategy. Spents ages and ages and got absilutely nowhere! 😄

I've taken more photos; hopewfully they're better.

One of the characters has a soccer ball and the other one one of those ride along horse head on a stick toys. I'm still a bot concerned about the clarity of the writing below the characters. 😞

Could be the 1963 Tokyo pre Olympics which were called Tokyo International Sports week

One says Sanka and if you include 1963 there was a lot of advertising for Sanka Coffee.

I think crow is spot on especially with an Olympic looking torch about to move forward.

I don't know the complex Kanji characters so I will see if I can get someone to look at it.
