Just received eBay's latest assistance to sellers *Ebay's NEW HEALTH CHECK* .
This may be old news but they are moving timed BUY IT NOW and will move all my listings to GOOD TIL CANCELLED. Well that is not what I want but then again we have no say.
This does not suit me for many reasons with something new I like to use 10 days as an option. The rest are 30 day listings which gives me the option to adjust the listings if they are not attracting buyers or watches. I will sometimes group them with other items etc.
I find the 30 day listings far more manageable for my business needs.
So if all fixed listings are good til cancelled I dare say the next step will be for those with ebay stores will be reduced with the amount of fixed listings in their subscription.
Good til cancelled also means there will be a hell of a lot of old stock on there for years or if I remember correctly they were bringing in limited time for listings.
I have had my vent but OH SO FRUSTRATING makes me wonder why I am doing this.

So I noticed two difference in pages on ebay talking about relisting and insertion fees.
On this page https://sellercentre.ebay.com.au/selling-fees/quick-view it says:
"Good 'Til Cancelled listings renew automatically every 30 days unless all of the items sell, you end the listing, or a listing violates an eBay policy. Insertion fees are charged every 30 day period."
Which is as we know it, the listings renew every 30 days and take a free listing or if you've used them all, you pay a fee.
However, on this page https://www.ebay.com.au/help/selling/listings/creating-managing-listings/relisting-items?id=4147 it says:
"Fixed price listings
Fixed price listings are set to Good 'Til Cancelled duration by default. This means your item will be listed on eBay until it sells or you end it.
Manual relisting
Auction style listings with a 1- to 3-day duration may have to be relisted manually. If you need to relist an auction or fixed price listing because you ended it early, cancelled an order, or the buyer didn't pay, you'll also have to do this manually.
We charge an insertion fee (or count it as a free listing) for both the original listing and the manual relisting."
It's saying what others have been told, that only auctions will need relisting manually and that you will pay an insertion fee (or use a freebie) when you do that. Your regular GTC listings that don't have those conditions (ended early, cancelled, or non paying buyer) aren't mentioned as attracting a relisting insertion fee. This to me reads as what others have said, an initial inserton fee or freebie when you list the GTC item, but then it just relists over and over each 30 days without taking any more freebies or attracting any more insertion fees. Is anyone else reading this the way I am? It seems to be the opposite of what the first link is saying, but I don't know when each was written.

I prepared a listing an hour ago & it stated under the GTC that I would be charged a fee every 30 day relist period. That's quite clear to me, but I would love to be wrong!

Sure it's a choice to have a store, just as it's a choice not to have a store and to have a very limited number of listings, just as it's a choice to list on ebay or not.

Exactly.

Then if it's a 'choice to sell on eBay or not', why do you keep harping on about the same listings being relisted over and over. That is the seller's choice to do so.
Quite possibly a lot of those repeated listings would actually get sold if eBay gave the Aussie sellers more exposure over the sellers from O/S.

Surely, everyone (myself included) who took up ebays free listing offers, was aware that eventually the offers would stop. I have been
dreading this for well over 12 months, but allthough my head hurts I am sure I will be able to keep ebay working for me. When the free listings for Auctions dries up, might be a bigger concern.
I dont know why so many, seem to be lamenting the loss of auto relist option, surely they are aware that when items were auto relisted, it was only the listing fee that was waived and that FVF then applied after initial promo period.

re the auto relists - that is exactly why I took them off.
Items don't necessarily sell in the first week (at least mine don't seem to), so now after accepting the weekend offer, I just bulk relist some time over the weekend.
And schedule new ones to start after I've accepted that promotion. It's not rocket science.
Though waiting with baited breath for next Saturday to find out if that weekend offer is still going to be there or not - with all the other changes going on, who knows. Might have to go back to the drawing board.

Yep, I think there will be a lot of people going blue in the face, just waiting for Saturday to roll arround. I suppose in one way I am lucky as a while back I had a run in with the resolution centre, got sent to the Naughty corner, no promos for two months, It made me re-evaluate how I use ebay

Replying to self.
So clearly, the informatin she gave me on points 1 - 4 was very wrong! So typical.
Edit. For some reason it didn't include the post I was referring to, but here are vpoints 1 -4:
So I've just had a 'Call me back' chat with an ebay rep.
Here's what I gleaned:
1. If you have the auto-relist ticked, 'Don't worry. All items not sold will get their free auto relists'
2. Despite what the Health Check email said, it's a default email and you'll still get the auto relists for fixed price items
3. In new listings after the 19th - will still be able to do new listings with fixed price or BIN and you can just check the duration that you'd like.
4. The 2 types of listings will be Auction or fixed price and GTC is aonly a variation for the time you'd like to list it for.
