EBay needs to wake up to itself re 0 rating members ie potential scammers

Hi I am probably the 1000 000 person who has had this issue...

0 customer rating scammer ...

Bid on something it sold to them, they are not going to pay...

I sold a bike - local pick up only...

The person is in USA, 0 purchases/sales since 2016

Address of buyer is REMOVED

to that effect.

Called EBAY

Any smart person would see that is a scammer - I have to wait 4 days to open a case of unpaid item.

Where is the management - excutive decisions...

"Sorry sir - I can see this is a scammer - let me put you through to management,

Good Morning sir, sorry about the inconvience I believe this is scam having looked at the facts - I have cleared that sale and banned that account, you can list the item again as soon as you want to. Have a great day, thank you for using Ebay" (They want me to rite their call centre scripts for them 🙂

Scammers cannot be on the streets any more, too many cameras now, this is the new method.

I am not sure what they hoped to gain from this, other than annoy... Would they have got my email or phone number etc to sell to another scammer...

I can only set -1 for rating to not buy, I have now set to excluded purchasers for area you dont send to(? is that correct), I would have assumed that if it was local pick up, you could not buy it overseas...?

Thanks

You do know that your odd non payer has bid on three other bikes?

They are possibly causing grief to some other sellers also...lol

Perhaps you should place that ID on your Blocked Bidder List before you relist after you close the UPI as unpaid.

Expensive pick up items are prone to this scam.

No matter where you will decide the pick up will occur,

you might encounter a pack of mongrels who might steal the item.

You could also score a spoof email showing that a PayPal payment

has been made and a 'mate' will pick up the item.

This only works on silly or very inexperienced sellers.

In the worst case ( again for inexperienced sellers ) your actual home address

( especially if you are selling many expensive items ) can become a burglary target.

No ID is required to become a registered buyer after all buyers are precious

and eBay wouldn't want to inconvenience them by requiring 'proof' of identity.

How do you find that out? SOmeone bid on the bike before with 0 rated - I stopped it because I realised I had an error in listing, might have been there before...

Must be someone with a fetish for bikes..

Thank you, I was logged in so you dont see those links in profile,

back to my point in the beginning,

IDIOT

I was right,

surely ebay can see how he bid on 4 items and did not buy

Sporting Goods > Bicycles 1 Seller 1 2d 12h Sporting Goods > Bicycles 1 Seller 2 16h Sporting Goods > Bicycles 1 Seller 3 7h Sporting Goods > Bicycles 1 Seller 4 7d 20h

I wish I could see if he was the winner on all 4 - if so surely and not paid he is flagged?

cheers

Maybe he's coming to Australia for a cycling holiday with his wife and two kids. Anything's possible. 🙂
