Ebay charges

I dont know why i am still selling on ebay...

Example of one of my items i have listed....

Price of item $6.95

Postage $5.95  " trying to keep it low but the postage for the item will cost me $7.20" Due to australia postage rises

Listing fee $3.50

Then final value fee on top

My item becomes a give away at under $3.oo for me....

Now ebay want us to add free postage  " Cost to me to selling my item and post it just over $4.00 without adding the final value fee and not adding the cost of my fuel to take the item to the post office

Why would i bother selling my item cheaper for me to throw it in my garbage bin....

Gumtree is looking good... it's free

Re: Ebay charges

GST threshold is on turnover. Postage costs, whether or not paid through eBay or charged commission on by eBay is part of turnover.

Are you positive that Gumtree is eBay?

I had a close look at Gumtree last week and seriously considered listing there too until I saw that Gumtree is designed specifically for people who prefer to do business face to face. This means that you can only sell items within a certain distance from where you live. And it's FREE to list!!!  Doesn't sound like eBay to me. Not enough money in it for eBay, I'd say 😞

Maybe ebay want to "encourage" small sellers to move to Gumtree and once they are all nicely settled in there, start introducing the fees. A bit conspiratorial I know BUT ???????????

Re: Ebay charges

ebay Fees for May $53 of which the postage fees were $18Smiley Mad

I've been contemplating listing 2,000 books with a $49.95 store and $75 to list the extra 1500 BN's over the Free 500 listing entitlement.

If I was to sell $1,000 in a month - 200 x $5 books, 200 x $7.20 satchels

I would be up for $85 in ebay fees on the sales, $142 ebay fees on postage

Paypal fees would be $24 on sales, $60 for the .30c per/transaction fee and $34.56 on the postage

Total fees including the store fee would be $394 or 39.4% of total sales.

Think I'll stick to the free listingsSmiley Frustrated

Re: Ebay charges

Correct me if I am wrong?....my understanding is, until 6/5, the postage hasn't been included in the total turnover, it hasn't been in my sales records anyway, however, different story now when the total Invoice (including postage) is being counted towards total sales turnover...

Re: Ebay charges

Your turnover is ALL the money you receive.

Paypal and bank records would be a more accurate indication.

Yep pretty annoying isn't it!
Ebay offered all of my listing as from THEN had the audacity to send me a bill for the end of the month, in which case I HAVE been charged for every listing **bleep**??
Think I'll be going to the ombudsman
