Ebay didn't cancel a purchase

Purchaser wanted me to post purchase, I had stated local pick up. Purchaser wanted to cancel. I told ebay to cancel, got no reply.  Told Purchaser to cancel. Today received email stating money was paid into my account. What do I do now? Can't get to talk to anyone.

Re: Ebay didn't cancel a purchase

Only you, the seller can cancel

You don't get to 'tell eBay' to cancel

The buyer cannot cancel

You will need to now cancel with 'problem with buyers address' I would imagine

Although it is surprising they have not opened a dispute to get their money back, since you failed to cancel when they asked you to

You don't need to talk to anyone

But you do need to read the basics of selling

Re: Ebay didn't cancel a purchase

I very very strongly echo sandy’s suggestion that you read through the eBay Help section thoroughly.

You will need to know your onions when selling on eBay. Cancelling a transaction as a seller is one of the very basic things to know.

This should get you started. https://www.ebay.com.au/help/selling/getting-paid/sellers-can-cancel-order?id=4136

Re: Ebay didn't cancel a purchase

Go to your orders.  select the order in question and from the dropdown menu select, cancel order.

Reason for cancellation, buyers request.  Submit and if you are still in time ebays fees will make up part of the refund.

Re: Ebay didn't cancel a purchase

Am a bit confused.  This only sold end of July.  As a new seller you would have a hold on your funds.

Why would you have something so small as a "Pick Up Only" ?  Definately think you need to do some reading on how things work.

Re: Ebay didn't cancel a purchase

Excellent point

I didn't check 'when' the item sold, since the OP says they money is in their account already

Not sure how that happened after a week, when they are a brand new seller

Hence is why I assumed the buyer must have bought it over a month ago for the OP to get the money in their account

End result is the same though

Re: Ebay didn't cancel a purchase

You are entitled to list anything you want as pick up only. That is a seller's prerogative.

However, be aware that  you are then limiting your range of buyers. You may do better on Facebook marketplace for pick up items-no fees!

Buyers who bid on your pick up only stuff and after a purchase then expect you to post (were they prepared to pay extra??) are a pain. They should at least have asked before they bought.

But it does happen. Some buyers don't read ads properly.

So you need to know what to do when glitches like this occur.

You are the one who has to cancel the order. And you need to cancel it in such a way that you will get your fees back. That means you have to cancel it as a buyer request or problem wwith their address. Never cancel with eg out of stock or something like that, as that is deemed a seller fault and you still get charged the commission.

Have a look at countess's link and read that. If you are still a bit lost as to what to do, go to help section of ebay and have a chat to an ebay rep.

Keep it simple. Buyer has asked you to cancel an order as it is pick up only and they live too far away.

They will guide you through the process, but hopefully you will be able to work out what to do if you read the link.
