Just before I leave greedybay or feebay or whatever it may be called these days, I thought I'd share their latest (supposed) justification of their illegal postage fee - as everybody knows when you profit from a service you have to provide assurances and guarantees for that same service... but not when it comes to greedybay.
Here's a direct copy and paste straight from the horses mouth and obviously done in Filipino-English not that I knew such a dialect existed....
we only get a percentage of the postage if the item is already been shipped. We charged you not because we just get the amount form you but because eBay advertise Australian Post to the seller so thats why you will be charged by eBay when you use Australian postage.
So that was it and "What the ...." indeed!
I've lost track of the number of complaints I've lodged with them, and not just for their illegal postage fee as there's way too much wrong and deceitful with this whole place. I've also lost track of the different excuses they keep using, none of which make any sense at all, but so far this one is the funniest of all of them and if anybody knows what it means then you're an absolute marvel 🙂
My new friends in the media thought it was a cracker too so hopefully they'll do their job and reveal what ebay really does behind the scenes as there's far too many people that have no idea at all.
They say they're all about giving the buyer the best experience possible which is why there's no regard for sellers, but it seems like thank you notes and personal messages to peoples paypal email addresses is the only real way to give buyers the best experience possible by informing them who really gets their money.
By the way... I was able to cancel a listing here and list it elsewhere for $14 less and I still made $2 more - I had no interest in the $2 more as I'm about giving buyers the best experience possible too - but what a complete rip off this joint really is and that's just one example from hundreds.
Just about done with this dump though - so "hooray" "hooray" no more need for greedybay! 🙂

I've tried Swapmeet, Quicksales, Gumtree and SwapAce bur have not any success.
If you haven't heard of it, or can't find it, neither have, or can, potential buyers.

The reason for the fees on postage is simple.
its not because "Chinese" sellers sell items for $1 and then charge excessive postage , ie $50.
its because when the decision was made a long time before we were told about it, that Paypal and eBay will come separate companies, eBay realised they will miss out on the fees Paypal charge on total cost, item cost and postage.
plain and simple.

Not as plain and simple as that at all. Ebay have charged a fee on delivery in the US and other countries for a long time now, long before the decision to separate ebay and Paypal. All they have done is bring the Aus site into line with most others.

It's the buyer who pays in the end, i guess it's Ebay's way to make the buying experience more enjoyable.

Which is why I don't understand why sellers are so up in arms about it.
You don't see buyers coming to the boards and complaining about the fees, but in the end buyers are the ones who stand to lose the most because they pay the fees for any seller who builds them into their prices.

Anything that results in increased prices on eBay (but not elsewhere) has the potential to adversely affect business on eBay, so that's one reason why.
Another would be the ethics of the fee in the first place.
Not to mention in a lot of cases it can not be easily accommodated. Known (up front) costs are relatively easy to account for, variable costs much less so.
There are a lot of reasons I disagree with, and resent, the FVF on postage, despite the fact that it generally earns eBay an average of only 20c more per order from me, and I may be (mostly) over it, but I can also guarantee that if there was something I could do, or contribute to, that had a chance of having it overturned, I would do it in a heartbeart.

eBay charges a fee on postage akin to I bought a large item from Myer or BigW (like a fridge or washing machine). Then I I called an independent delivery van, pay for the fee to pick up and deliver the large item to me then Myer or Big W would charge me a fee on the payment I made to the driver. eBay is blatantly making money from a service (being Australia Post) that it did not offer.
To all the people who simply offer the option of, 'if you don't like it, sell somewhere else' I like eBay and hope to make it better. I don't mind paying fee on the value of the item sold. That is FAIR. But paying a fee on postage, which buyer pays, in blatantly making profit from other people services (in this case Australia Post).

buyers might not go to the boards to complain about fees, but they do complain about the cost of postage. I think they forget about the postage fees and don't understand that sellers have to jack up the postage cost to cover it.
