So recently I sold a tv for a small amount.
I tested the tv and sent it. Postage cost was around double the sell price.
Buyer contacts me to say tv is only mains powered while ad does say 12V compatible. I didn’t write the ad - just clicked the ai button and possibly the 12V was picked up when selecting the item to list.
Buyer would like a total refund including postage costs which ends up being around $50-$60 loss to me and I still have tv, It costs more to send tv back than it sold for. I have offered buyer to keep tv and I will refund cost of item. Buyer is quite toxic and citing ACL.
From my side, listing did say returns not accepted and photos were accurate and did not show a 12V socket but I did not have a photo of the rear. I admit listing was partly wrong.
So, do I give a full refund and lose $60 or try to meet part way.
Question is

I would just say sorry for the error and ask if they are interested in keeping the TV instead of returning for a full refund and if so what discount would they like.
If they dont want it then just do a full refund and tell them to dispose of the TV via ewaste and move on.

Full refund, including postage. You falsely advertised the item. Why should the buyer out of pocket for postage for your error.
Returns not accepted is not valid for false advertising.
And dont blame AI it's your responsibility to check what you advertise.

No return only refers to change of mind (as per eBay policy)so in this case, 'no returns' does not mean a thing
You are responsible for the listing, and checking it was accurate , you admit yourself it was wrong
Up to you how you choose to handle things, but if they were to open a case, they would win no question
No idea why you say the buyer is 'toxic'
Also no idea why they would need to site ACL when they are covered by the eBay MBG for item not as described

I had to have a giggle, looked at your feedback, and you left a negative for someone who only offered a partial refund for an error.
And now you are doing the same thing.
Hopefully you get a well deserved negative if you dont do a full refund,

I'd be waiting for a case to be opened - send a return postage - hoping you receive the TV back in working order.
Then relist accurately - recoup a bit of the loss.

$20.50 tv, cut the losses and let them keep it. Cost more on postage to get it back

Ok, seems to be the way to go. Going past today so will pick up and save on return postage.
After AI had a go, the listing actually said the below so did not actually specify powered directly by 12V but it was implied. It was however implied and while I may have seen the 12V comment, did not really take it in. Have no idea what VESA is either,
It is compatible with VESA mount and 12V, making it perfect for use in caravans, boats, or other vehicles.

Ah what I read it specifically says 12V
Vesa is a standard mounting system, to mount your tv on brackets. If you dont know what it means, dont include it in your ad. Or google is your friend.
