Failed echeque, can't cancel order

A buyer paid by echeque 2 weeks ago, but the echeque failed. Paypal says it's "cancelled", which means "The payment was cancelled and the money was returned to the sender's account" but eBay still says the item is pending through Paypal.

 

Paypal advised I contact the buyer for alternative payment methods, which I did, but got no reply. The problem is there's no option to cancel the order or open an unpaid item case, because eBay says it's pending.

 

Any suggestions?

If it's still showing as pending with the hourglass symbol are you able to mark it as unpaid? If you can then you could open an Unpaid dispute.

this happened to me the other week and you cant mark it as unpaid, you can resend the invoice but you have to log into paypal to do it.......... if you're not sure when you log into paypal up the top of the page is request money.....click on that and you'll see create invoice and just fill in the details and resend

 

if you wish to open an unpaid dispute you might have to contact paypal and they can talk you thru it

I had his last week, in your account section there is a tab called "resolve a problem with a buyer" here you can lodge unpaid strike

Except that the item is marked as payment pending. In which case you cannot open a NPB dispute.

Thanks... These options aren't going to work though. I think I'll just try contacting eBay.

 

Have to say it's kind of strange that there's no automatic process to deal with this. It can't be that rare that an echeque fails or is cancelled for whatever reason.

Okay, I managed to open an unpaid item case after all. The option isn't available from the Selling Manager page but I went directly to the Resolution Centre:

where I was able to find the transaction and open a case there.

Type a product name
