I'm with you on that.
Postage cannot be free. Postage costs vary from state to state. The difference can be from $10.00 for a local parcel to over $50.00 for the other side of the country.
So do I list my $10.00 item at a starting price of $60.00 - just in case in need to post to the other side of the state - I'll never make a sale. It will scare away any local buyers.
It will be too confusing. Will I be able to adjust the final invoice to if it is a local buyer????
What about combined postage? Will I be able to adjust the final invoice for combined postage.
The only time I may offer free postage is if I can slip it into an envelope and I have already made a decent profit on the staring price of the item.
i will never offer free postage on parcels, etc.
Buyer's are not stupid - they know what's going on.
Seller's are not stupid either.
With some luck - the ACCC may look into the matter & rule against this incredibly daft and unfair to both sellers & buyers act.

Well said..........
I would like to add - a way to source out postage bandits is to encourage Ebayers to report them - not slug honest Ebayer sellers with FVF that includes postage. This will have an negative impact on honest sellers. Bandits will always be bandits - they will keep ripping buyers off any way.

thanks BTW Digi

well given you have asked the question, perhaps you should ask them DH if the difference between the countries policies on calcuation of final value fee concerns you

Why would it not. Given a part of the reasoning is to level the playing field.
So us powersellers can expect to have FVF discounts? Ha Ha Ha. And only get charged the FVF on our cheapest postage method?

Yeah, but I dismissed the idea pretty quick - the 'logic' used in eBay's answers (if they actually decide to provide one) tends to be of a nature I'm unable to reconcile, which leaves me with the same kind of frustrated feeling I get when talking to a spoilt, rebellious teenager...
"eBay....how come you're only charging FVF on the first domestic postage option in the US, but on the full, total cost here?
EBAY!?
Hey! Are you listening me, eBay? I said, how come....."
eBay sighs loudly, rolls eyes and says...
