Good Bye Ebay

I am a single mum that tries to make a small amount of money selling things on ebay... but after my statment from October, I no longer find it beneficial for me.

My sales amount was $242 and then I had to pay 17.79% (43.50) in ebay fees..... gone are the days where we could make a decent sale and walk away with a good profit. All the charges for selling and the stupid pathetic money grabbing fees for postage, its not like it cheep to post items as it is, but now we are being charged for charging for postage.

Get real Ebay... I have been selling and buying for years, but you have lost me..... instead of sending my bloody surveys as a buyer, have the guts to send me one as a seller, actually send one to all sellers and give us a right to tell you what we think!!

Ebay, you are nothing but a money hungry, penny pinching piece of **bleep**.. Good Bye!

Re: Good Bye Ebay

All I can think of is that you may have listed in more than one catergory or have a sub title, these would add an additional fee?

Re: Good Bye Ebay

No nothing at all. They are trying to say "9.9% is the percentage of Final value Fee. However Total monthly Fess may also contain other fees like insertion fees"

However I only ever use my 40 free insertion or the 100 free...

I dont have a sub heading, I dont sell the same thing in two categories.. I am very perticular that I wont be stung with extra fees.

Re: Good Bye Ebay

Well then as you only use free listings ebay needs to recalculate the fees as you have been ripped off

Re: Good Bye Ebay

I'm not surprised the OP's fees are so high. I've checked her sold listings and there are an awful lot of items that sold for $2, $4, & $5 with postage charges of between $9 - $13 so with the FVF on postage and the 30c Paypal flag-fall, of course the fees expressed as a percentage of income after expenditure are going to be considerably higher than normal. On a $2 item with $9 postage, the OP is making a nett 'profit' of less than 35 cents, and that's without even taking the item's cost price into consideration.

Re: Good Bye Ebay

Check your account details as all the fees you have been charged will be itemised.

Based on the percentage you have been charged you are being charged a $1.50 listing fee plus the FVF's.

They dont like it when you show them the maths, I was hung up on: Here is the maths.... 9.9% of 243 is $24.07

Yet I was charged $43 in fees.

I use the free insertion, I don't use subtitles or anything else that will incure any additional charges, I try and keep the fees as low as possible. Yet they can not give me an answers as to why I had to pay nearly $20 more.

Jude, 9.9% of 243 may be 24.07, but does that 243 include the amount you charged the buyer for postage, or is it just your total raw sales amount?  FVF is charged at 9.9% on BOTH.  So add your postage charges, then caculate the 9.9% on the total and you are probably coming close to what you were charged.

Another thing to cosider is whether you used Ebay postage lbels at all, these are charrged to your account as well.

Cheers,

Penny

Re: Good Bye Ebay

You need to have a look at your itemised account which is available under the Account Tab in My eBay. Once you have checked out what you have actually been charged for you can then give that information to Customer Service if you think you have been overcharged.
