Ha here is one for the books, got to give them 10 out of 10 for ingenuity

Hi, this is in concern to your best offer option you have on this item. If I was to receive this item at half price of less I would then give both this seller and item a great review. I would also give both a 5/5 rating regardless of the quality of this item after the purchase. I can send you a copy of the review that I would write in advance if you like. Please think this through. Thanks.

Lyndal not really one for the party list, as only has purchase feedback history of 13, has never left a neg or nut for any seller, as a matter of fact has never left any feedback for any seller at all.

Which suggests one of two things (assuming this is not the first time they have sent a similar message, anyway)... Their approach never works, or they don't follow through on their promises.

I'd gamble a few bucks on the latter, just based on the fact that every buyer I've ever had who rabbitted on about the positive feedback I'd get if I did this, that or the other, never left anything at all. (I'm not the type to jump through hoops, in fact I'm often inclined to do the opposite of what the buyer is suggesting when they're rude in their approach, just because I have a contrarian streak Smiley LOL, but some of the stuff they asked for was already done / par for the course).

I wouldn't block someone for attempting to haggle on a best offer item, but to be honest I would block them if they approached things like that, as I'd actually find it insulting (JMHO).

@chameleon, that is a huge flaw with eBay's message system - the buyer would have sent the message from the ended item, but because it's an ended listing, there won;t be any reference to the item at all. No idea why they have it that way - when I ran auctions, I would often get messages asking me if I'll relist "this item", but always had to ask them what item they meant. >_> (I'd block that buyer, too - but my tolerance level for that sort of thing is kinda maxed out at the moment).

I have to agree with Digi on this one.   I would think that the complete lack of feedback would indicate the buyer has tried this before and been blocked by other sellers.

It is moments like this that Watchcount would have been very handy.

I just recieved a classic message earlier this evening. It wasnt attached to any listing and read as follows, caps included. ( without the * though )

" I WANTED THAT F***KING BOOK."

It's not necessarily an ended listing.  They may be blocked because of your settings and the only way they could contact you was by using the contact seller button.  That also doesn't go through a particular listing, and if they've been blocked it would explain the comment (assuming you've got/had a book listed).  Check to see whether anyone has been blocked and you may find them there.

Thanks for the advice, but I think I know what they are reffering to. I had a rare Holden book for sale. This particular book is very hard to find and it sold within a few days of listing for a good price.

I have noticed before that vintage Holden stuff seems to attract a "very special " type of customer. We always brace ourselves whenever we list rare Holden car parts. They sell for silly money, but there is usually plenty of meladramas along the way.

Thanks for the warning.  I have an early Holden book here that I've been putting off listing, and now I might put it off even longer!  It's not super rare but they make a bit more than I expected (your comments prompted me to do some research).
