Have to report Ebay to ACCC - multiple and ongoing fictitious fees being charged

Subject says it all. I have to report Ebay to the ACCC.

A couple of months ago I spotted extra fees being invoiced by Ebay for non-existant listings. I have dealt with multiple EBAY representatives by phone, chat and email and had enough. Reps hang up, cut off chat's and don't respond to emails.

I managed to get one set of fees refunded but Ebay is refusing to deal with the rest which have been charged over the past few months. Reps have gone so far as to deny the existance of those fees when they are clearly present in invoices and have been debited from my Paypal account.

The arrogance is incredible.

I find it a bit hard to believe that ebay is doing this to you and nobody else.

If this was widespread there would be many sellers coming to the boards to complain

I've never actually done a listing-to-fee comprison like that.

So if they were doing it to me I would never know.

The totals look reasonable to me for the activity we have had in any given month so I don't do the detailed checks.

Perhaps this could be the reason not many complain about it.

Sometimes the amount I get charged seems way too much, and then I remember it includes the postage that I've purchased.

However, when I've got some spare time, I'll have a look and see how it matches up.

I wouldn't be too sure about that. eBay overcharging isn't really the kind of situation someone would come to the boards for help and advice - they go straight to eBay with a "please explain" and "fix it now".

Just like I did... The other week, I closed a UPI dispute where I was credited back my FVF. I always double-check the credit has been applied, so I look at my account balance, close the case, then re-check balance. So, at that time - after the credit - I owed eBay a bit over $29 in fees.

Over the next 24 hours, I had a fairly quiet run, and accrued in the realm of $12 more worth of fees.

I hadn't purchased any postage labels in recent history, having switched to C&S for everything except the flat rate boxes, but when I checked my account the next day, I suddently had over $70 in outstanding fees.

I contacted eBay, and found it impossible to get the rep I was talking to to understand the difference between "overcharge" and "extra charge" (where the former means a fee cost more than it should have, and the latter means there were independent, additional charges added on to the total, which I didn't accrue).

At one stage, I asked if they were suggesting eBay FVF are sometimes delayed for extended periods, between a sale and being added to the account (they've always been added instantly AFAIK), and their reply was [in a nutshell] "no, that doesn't happen, but it's possible". Smiley Indifferent

I'm now keeping a spreadsheet purely to keep track of actual fees and charges, and so far the eBay total is running higher than the spreadsheet total (and no, I've worked in data entry, I haven't made an error Smiley Very Happy ).

This has happened occasionally in the past but have been resolved after I've contacted Ebay. This time it's been impossible to make any headway. It's been incredible frustrating.
