From AP facebook page:
postage prices for eBay / Australia Post flat rate products will increase from Monday 15 April 2013. Postage for the 500g satchel will increase from to $7.15 and postage for the 3kg satchel will increase from to $11.70. Postage for the flat rate boxes will be $7.15 for Bx1 box, $11.70 for Bx2 box and $15.05 for Bx4 box. The cost of packaging for these products is not changing.

Actually this is the 2nd price rise since I have been using it and now that all parcels posted over the counter will have tracking, C&S will be dearer than a normal parcel under 500g lodged over the counter (and you have to use their small satchels and print the label yourself) ?:|

No, the prices have been increased at least once before.
I think an increase for a signature by more than 200% is a significant change to the service.
The limited notice of such a significant change to their C&S customers is appalling customer service.

C&S prices have remained the same since it's inception so I don't know why anyone is surprised the prices have gone up. If they had instigated a small rise each time other costs went up it would probably be more now and people wouldn't be complaining nearly as loud.
I know I am surprised simply because when AP anounced the rise in postage costs for the normal parcel service I rang C&S and asked if we will be affected I was told by the operator that I would no as prices would still be the same.
If I know service price would be going up I would have alted my auctions ending Yesterday and today that have registered mail as now I am out of pocket as I stated Registered mail on some of them......

The cost of the satchels and boxes have not increased, but it is the postage cost that has increased. This is where the confusion??? has occured.

Click and send satchels last went up on April 2nd 2012. Price rises that time were 12.7%. Price rise a year later of 15.3% (500 gram satchel) and 10.9% (3 KG satchel).
Price rise over two year period of 30% for 500 gram satchel and 25% for 3KG satchel. Price rise of less than 250 gram parcel (from $5 to $6.95) in same period of 39%.
Inflation rate as near as I can see was about 2-3% a year. So price rises of about 4 or 5 times the inflation rate. I'm not surprised exactly, but I am pretty annoyed.

They will claim the balance is for fuel price increases - even though fuel prices have been essentially static for the last six months.

Sorry you are very wrong.
This was my first ever click and send item.
It was just on 2 years ago. Feb 2011
Cost $5.50 and if required $1.00 for signature on delivery.
โข Destination country: Australia
โข Product: Parcel Post
โข Weight: 0.500 kg
โข Extra Cover: No
โข Extra Cover charge: $0.00
โข Additional Services: Tracking
โข Additional Services charge: $0.00
โข Postage charge*: $5.50
The rise from the $5.50 to $6.20 last year was a rise of about 12.5%. Way above CPI.
Now they want $7.15, and another $2.95 for signature on delivery.
This is a 30% price hike in the basic service in 2 years.
Add Signature required and it is Just a bl**** joke. It is well over a 50% Increase.
So I really do not know how you can say they did not go up until now or this is in any way justifiable.

I heard or read somewhere that maximum compensation for SOD when used with standard parcels and satchels is going to be $50 rather than the $100 registered used to allow. If so, you will have to pay $1.50 per $100 value to insure items above $50. I am not sure if you can purchase insurance without purchasing the SOD option for non-flat rate items.
However, if this change will also mean the maximum insured value on an eBay branded satchel after paying an extra $2.95 will be $50, since the maximum even with SOD is currently the $100 registered affords, and considering $50 used to be the standard maximum without registered etc, then these price rises are are further beyond ridiculous than they first appear.

What annoys me is that I have sent a couple messages to the Aust Post store here on Ebay, asking if the prices were going up, only recently as 4 or 5 days ago, and they never gave me any information - as if they didn't know.......
And we're not on facebook either - luckily we read the forums and this is the only way we founf out about the price hikes.
There is a link on Click and Send about the changes and it gives you a URL for the price increase info, but nothing about the click and send satchels.
It's pretty disgusting we have all been really kept in the dark about the price rises for Click and Send.
What annoys me even more is that Aust Post have lost some of our stuff in the post, and damaged quite a few things too - are we going to get better service from them now, considering we are paying almost $1 extra per parcel ?
